I attended The Alexandria Hotel for their Superbowl Party, on Feb 4th.
The reasons I will not recommend this venue are listed below:
• Bottled beer ran out at half-time. Bottled beer (four bottles) was being served in buckets of ice so the people sitting outside in the sun could have COLD beer. When the bottled beer ran out, jugs were the next option, and as I was a single person (not in a party) this simply did not work. The jug of beer was warm within minutes. • The “babe-a-licious Miller Girl” (one in particular) would STAND in front of the viewers/customers, strutting her stuff and flirting. She was obstructing the view for several critical plays. • No thought was put into the seating arrangements. They had the front row sitting on a high bench so those sitting behind could not see the screen. When the staff was requested to rectify this issue, there was no result. One was too busy, and the other listened but did nothing. It was left to me to arrange chairs for the front row bench sitters. Fortunately they were OK with my request. • “2 Cinema Screens & 12 Plasmas” – The cinema screens were very poor quality resolution. The outside plasmas were almost unwatchable due to reflection. More thought needed with placement. • “We've got half time ball passing competitions, prizes and giveaways and plenty for you to look at.” – Didn’t happen anywhere that I could see. • “pick the margin competitions” – Again, didn’t happen anywhere that I could see.
Maybe this venue is OK for a casual visit but NOT for...
Read morei live locally & had lunch here with my daughter & grandson today for the first time. i had the adult cheeseburger, which was very average, $22 plus $3 if u want lettuce & tomato, sigh. that's ridiculous. i personally think the burger is only worth $20 with lettuce & tomato, $25 is ridiculous for what it was, even thou it came with fries, which were also average. my adult daughter ordered the Tacos gobernador, 3 tacos filled with Prawn, poblano chile, onion, mozzarella, coriander, chile de arbol salsa, lime, for $22, I've never seen such small tacos, hardly any filling & she was still hungry that she ate my grandson's half of his kids cheese burger, as he only ate half of it. normally if i eat 3 tacos anywhere else like beach burrito in Newtown, it's far more delicious & filling, and slightly less than $22. my grandson's kids cheese burger at $12 was very ordinary compared to my $25 burger, which is over priced. the kids burger shouldn't be more than $10, which is the usual price on most kids menu. overall experience eating here was disappointing. we won't go there again. there are far better places locally & in Newtown that serve far nicer food for those prices. if you're spending $60 for 2 adults & 1 child, food alone, u should feel satisfied with the taste & amount of food. but my daughter & i felt very unsatisfied. i wouldn't recommend eating here, as it is expensive for the lack of taste & quantity of food. if eating locally, try the...
Read moreTurned up on a beautiful Friday night, ready for a drink and some good vibes. Instead, we got served by a woman behind the bar who looked like she’d been forced to clock in at gunpoint. She could barely stand upright, let alone engage with us. The beer we wanted wasn’t available and her level of “help” hovered somewhere between nil and negative. My sister had to sit down before she lost it.
I then made the rookie mistake of ordering the “special” – an apple whiskey sour. What arrived looked like Kermit the Frog had been through a NutriBullet and left to ferment on the sink for six months. Frothy, warm, and tragic. Imagine drinking a milkshake in the summer sun that’s been gently rotting. That’s the vibe. I sent it back, told them it was undrinkable.
Enter the “manager” (wearing a headset – unless he’d just come off stage at the Enmore, questionable choice). He was friendly and asked if I “didn’t like it.” I said no, it wasn’t that I didn’t like it, it was that it was awful. He thanked me for the “feedback.” I clarified: “That wasn’t feedback. That was a complaint.” And I purchased a ginger beer. No refund.
Oh, and the cheeseburger? $27. If you’d like lettuce and tomato, that’s extra. Anyway, it was “lovely” — though I’d love to see how it fares in a blind tasting against McDonald’s.
Other than that, fantastic night....
