I went here last night and had a terrible experience. Both service and HYGIENE were a disgrace!
We were seated and not told that we had to order from the app. When we were finally told after going to the bar there were 4/9 of us whose devices could not scan the barcode. We asked to order regularly since the waitress was already at our table, she refused and walked away to talk with other staff members behind the bar. We had to sit there finding and downloading an app that would let let us scan the barcode (keep in mind we are in our 20s and used to technology). The app wouldn't load for 2 of us (due to poor phone reception in the venue) and we again asked the waitress for help. She promised us help but then walked away. I managed to get onto the app (we had been there for 30mins by now) only to discover when I went to pay for our food that the app was not working and hadn't recorded our order. Finally the waitress agreed to take our order and we paid at the table. By this time the other 5 people with us had almost finished their food. When our order came out it was wrong and they had forgotten a drink. We didn't say anything as enough time had been wasted.
Then to our horror we watched one of the bar staff squat under the bar (in an attempt to hide) and drink milk STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CARTON. In the middle of a pandemic REALLY? This is how this venue is run at it's MOST HYGIENIC?!
Additionally, we got a text message from the venue this morning saying that we had not paid for our food. It was pay as you go, we had paid for all food and drink before our orders were placed (either through the app or on card at our table). We are yet to find out whether this is a scam or yet another failure of the staff and venue manager.
The whole time we had been sitting there struggling to order, multiple staff were standing around the bar chatting, it was a quiet night with an almost empty venue. We are all normally very empathetic to staff having all hospitality experience but this was laziness at it's finest.
It's no wonder the venue was empty! When paying those prices you expect a positive atmosphere and experience, all we got was overpriced, average food with a groan from...
Read moreMy wife and I have attended this venue three times in the last four months, and our assessment is as follows: 1st: Food: 4/5 Staff: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Comments: The steak was cooked well, however required further seasoning. The chicken was fried well, however the sauce was too sweet and so became sickly very quickly.
2nd: Food: 0/5 Staff: 2/5 Ambiance: 1/5 Comments: the fish was so burned that the batter was blackened in areas, and it was so tough that it held the same texture as a well done beef steak so we were unable to eat it. The pork belly was also incredibly tough, and there was only a spoon full of sauce to go with the whole belly. The staff were incredibly unresponsive and took very long to do anything, however there was one gentleman that I believe to be the manager who was a redeeming quality and very pleasant. Finally, we had to wait over an hour to recieve two dishes.
3rd: Food: 1/5 Staff: 5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Comments: we ordered the fish and chips again and were sorely dissapointed to find the plate soaked on what we suspected to be water, but later discovered to be a pool of water from poorly drained slaw. The pork nuckle was incredibly tough through to the center, however it was soft close to the bone. The sauce volume problems continued with this pork dish, as there was but a spoon of sauce for the while pork nuckle. The mash potato for both dishes were dry and stodgy, with a crust on top. The staff thankfully were quite pleasant, and the same gentleman as before was quite concerned.
Overall, I can say that the staff are on average quite pleasant. However, the food requires vast improvement for the price, especailly as the chefs are unable to prepare their signature dishes to an edible standard. As we are not beer drinkers, I am unable to meaningfully comment regarding their range, however the "Butcher's Daughter" craft beer was quite flavourful with fruity undertones resembling...
Read moreAttended the Bavarian on the 7/11/20 to catch up with friends and had multiple issues with the service. Firstly, we had reserved two tables as we had a few people in our party. Not too long after sitting a waitress came over and said we would have to all sit at the one table “as they had more people coming in with reservations”. Never mind the fact that the table was reserved for us and we had literally just sat down. After sorting out this issue we noticed a pigeon flying about that repeatedly landed on a tv above our tables. We asked the staff if they would be able to shoo it away and they told us that “it lived there”. A friend of mine stated that this is a restaurant and having flying rats that just live in your establishment is not acceptable. While above us it relieved itself on our table multiple times and also into an almost full Stein of beer ($22.00 beer at that). Staff said they would replace the beer but never did. Our last issue arose when I went to the bathroom quickly and a staff member (without asking anyone at our table) started cleaning my half eaten dinner. He collected all the cutlery and dirty napkins (most of which had been used to clean pigeon poo) and put it all on top of my food. A friend said to the staff member that I was not in fact finished, the staff member then continued to unpack the plate again as if I was going to be fine with him touching my food during covid and stacking pigeon soiled napkins and used cutlery on top. In disbelief my friend told the waiter that I would no longer want it. After all this, no effort was made by staff members to apologise and no refunds, discounts or replacements for food and drink ruined due to negligence. All in all food and beer was good but that was about it. Service was terrible and I honestly feel ripped off after the night was over. Staff need a lot of work on communication skills and the owner needs to invest in some...
