I love this place. I have been going to the Comedy Store regularly for many years now, and I’ve loved every time. From their friendly and helpful staff, to the venue decor and intimate but still spacious feel, and of course the awesome acts - this place is a big winner. Not to mention the bargains you can get all the time on discounted early bird tickets if you keep up to date with their emails etc.
I love to support the industry no matter where I go, but the stand up sets here I find are always the most likely to be really well done. The venue is also one of if not my favourite in Sydney, awesome location in Moore Park with lots to do before and after the show, and inside the venue they have a great QR code ordering system where you order on your phone and your drinks come to you by the lovely waitstaff.
Just recently I missed out on a show I had tickets to due to close contact isolation requirements, and I got on to emailing someone named Hugh Inglis who helped me to get some tickets to a new show. Extremely friendly and lovely guy and really awesome customer service. Thank you to Hugh and the whole Comedy Store team for...
Read moreHonestly, this place felt like it was built specifically for retired white boomers who still think saying “the wife” is peak humour. We got stuck watching the comedy equivalent of a slow car crash — featuring Bec Melrose, Sean Collier, Adam Bloom Waka, and Julia Wilson — and I swear, I’ve had more fun watching a microwave defrost a chicken.
These performers genuinely believed yelling, swearing, and having zero self-awareness was enough to qualify as “comedy.” It was like being trapped at a family reunion where your least favourite uncle tries stand-up for the first time after 3 beers. Painful. Cringe. Spiritually damaging.
My friends and I started drinking just to survive. Not to loosen up — to numb the pain. And still, staring blankly at the wall gave us more joy than anything that happened on stage.
Avoid this place unless you enjoy regret, confusion, and secondhand embarrassment. Actually… even then, just watch grass grow instead. It’s free and has...
Read moreI used to love coming here, I've been to many shows over the years and always had a great time. My last visit, however, was ruined by a male staff member who lent over my shoulder during the last act and told me to "keep it down" in a stern voice. I was in shock! Everybody at a comedy show is laughing loudly aren't they? (isn't that the goal??!!) and I definitely wasn't the loudest or drunkest person there. I ended up leaving my friends and sitting outside by myself for the last 10 minutes because I was so upset & embarrassed. I was later told by my brother that he saw the same staff member leaning over other guests to say something in their ears (possibly telling them to be quiet but who knows...) Anyway I won't be going back after all these years. Not sure if this is a new thing/new rule, or if the male staff member just abused his power and took it upon himself to shut the crowd up for some reason. Either way, its really disappointing and it definitely...
