Food is alright, vibes are better but the customer service is the reason why I am giving this a 1 star.
I made a dinner reservation for the D’s Bar and Dining in June 2025, but in the 1-2 days leading up to the reservation, I became very ill. I called on the morning of the dinner reservation and spoke to a team member. I informed him I wanted to cancel the booking because I contracted COVID/flu.
I was told I would incur a cancellation fee ($50 per person so a total of $150). I appreciated they had an 24 hour cancellation policy, and I was within that time frame, but when I asked if there was a leeway for this, he said did not have the authority to waive this due to ‘compassionate reasons’. When I asked to speak to someone who would have the authority to waive the fee, he was not able to help.
However I was told that if I were to reschedule, the cancellation fee would be refunded to me when I went to the rescheduled dinner. I asked for an email address to confirm our conversation. Subsequently I attended the doctors and was issued a medical certificate and I emailed a copy of the certificate to the email address I was given and asked someone to contact me about my refund. I never received a response to my email. I then sent two follow up emails and again no response to any of my emails.
Two weeks later I turn up to my rescheduled booking. Whilst being led to the table by the waiter, I ask if there was a note in my booking about the cancellation refund. The waiter said he wasn’t sure what the process was and said I would have to email the head office. I said I had emailed the head office 3 times without a reply. He said he would check and come back to me.
The entire meal passed but I was not given any updates about the refund, though the same waiter continued to serve us. At the end of the meal, I was given the bill and was told to pay at the counter. When I went to the counter I was given the machine to tap. Before tapping I asked, what was happening with the refund. Someone who I think may have been the manager was called over and said I should check my emails because they had sent receipt for the refund amount (during the meal). The manager said it would come through to my bank account in a few days and it was company policy that the refund not be processed until I came to the rescheduled booking. He also seemed to want to rush me out the door, so that I would leave.
Whilst I appreciate that was company policy, I did not appreciate that no one from the office had replied to any of my emails or that no one had updated me what was happening during the meal and in fact, did not update me until I asked about it at the end of the meal. I did all that I was able to do enquire about the cancellation fee, but felt that the restaurant does not care about its customers so long as you pay their bill. As a result of this, quite disappointed by this experience and would not...
Read moreWe came here on a Wednesday night for a catch up dinner. There were 4 of us and we ordered: beef pho tartare, prawn toast, the d’s duck buns with their duck salad, wagyu noodles, 1kg of pipis and pandan fried ice cream to share among each other. It was more than enough. Every single dishes were tasty and they were very unique in their own way.
The most stand out dish for us was the beef pho tartare! ⭐️ 5/5 That dish was amazing and was well thought out. It was probably one of the best beef tartare I’ve tasted. Highly recommend trying this dish. It serve with crackers to eat with as well. Great for sharing in a big group.
The pipis was our second fav as they were fat and juicy unlike other places where the pipi’s are tiny or the place just serve you more shells then the pipi meat itself. It also comes with crispy noodles ⭐️ 5/5
Prawn toast was average for us ⭐️ 3/5 Cocktails and mocktails ⭐️4/5 Wagyu noodles was a ⭐️ 5/5 - a must try dish as it has a very unique taste to it. Almost taste like mi goreng but tastier. Pandan fried ice cream was ⭐️ 2/5, we had better fried ice cream. We love how they use different texture of ingredients like adding caramel popcorns into the dish to give it abit of a sticky date pudding taste. It’s the uniqueness of each dishes that drew our attention.
The only dish that was a let down was the d’s duck. ⭐️ 2/5 the bun was too thick for my liking and I personally prefer the old traditional pancake way. But it was nice to try it with the buns. I can see what they are trying to do here similar to belly bao. We try the salad that came with it but we were just too full. So I can’t really rate the salad at this point. However, I love their service here and they made sure that fresh and high quality food are served only. The first round of duck was served and the manager walked past and saw the duck dish and he took the dish back as it didn’t look right to him and he provided us a fresh new dish of duck. The fact that the manager went above and beyond to make sure his customers are being served the best of the best made our experience here very pleasurable. Overall this place deserve a good ⭐️ 5/5! They do live jazz here every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-10pm! We will definitely come back to try their...
Read moreDogs allowed in indoor dining area. Uncovered meats lying on the ground. Unhygienic place, avoid unless you want to get sick. Mentioned it to staff and "For today only". Won't be returning.
Edit: Firstly, the operative word “indoor”. Your customer hugging the dog and putting on a table indoors. How is that dishonest? Other than bringing to light a significant violation of the Food & Safety act. Specifically, a dog was brought INTO (indoors) the restaurant and allowed to sit on the ground, which could pose a health risk due to the potential for contamination. This is because dogs can carry bacteria and other pathogens that could be transferred to the food, utensils, or other surfaces in the restaurant.
It's important to note that the only animals allowed in restaurants are service animals, which are trained to assist people with disabilities. Other pets or animals are not allowed, as they are not trained to behave appropriately in a public setting and can pose a risk to other patrons. This dog was not a service animal but rather a pet. Therefore, allowing a dog to be in the restaurant is a clear violation of the law.
Additionally, when the issue was brought to the attention of the staff, they displayed a lack of concern and did not take appropriate action to rectify the situation. This is concerning as it suggests that the staff may not take food safety seriously, which could pose a risk to the health and safety of patrons.
Finally, the mention of uncovered meats and areas that are not properly cleaned also raises concerns about the sanitation of the restaurant. If meats are left uncovered, they could be exposed to bacteria or other contaminants, which could then be transferred to other foods. Additionally, if areas are not properly cleaned, it could lead to a buildup of dirt or other substances, which could pose a risk to the health of patrons.
Overall, these issues suggest that there may be significant concerns with the overall hygiene and food safety practices at the restaurant, which should be addressed as soon as possible to ensure the health and...
