Given how expensive Sydney CBD accommodation is, this is an option to consider. Accommodation is at a pub, where you need to check in at the ground floor bar. The bar is staffed from 8am, where you need to make arrangements if checking out earlier. The accommodation levels are levels 3, 4 and 5. On level 3 there is a breakfast area, where you have free breakfast cereal using the small long life milk cartons, bowls (you need to wash them after use), and disposable plastic cutlery. Hotel guests also have 10% off pub food / beverages, where happy hour drinks prices were good value. |Positives: Price, private room with basin, fridge, TV, window, towels / shampoo. No security concerns. Hotel is very close to Wynyard Station (using George Street exit) for easy airport access. One way train ticket from domestic airport using my credit card to tap on / off cost $19.53 (do not need an Opal card).|There is a shared shower / bath area and shared toilet, which seemed to be empty when I needed to use them. Very impressed at how clean these were.|Negatives: lift was not working, so not ideal if you have mobility issues hauling luggage up the stairs. Room did not seem to have heating - I had a warm hoodie which I was glad I had. Room does not also have a table / chair if you want to do work or sit. Room lighting was a bit dim - only 1 room light. There is also a bit of street noise (not an issue for me, but for those who are more sensitive). Not much privacy where my room looked straight into offices and curtains in my room were difficult to fully shut.||Overall I would stay again for a cheap CBD solo stay, particularly if I only needed to use the room to leave...

Staff kind and friendly, although I only saw them in the bar area. Conditions of the building are poor, darkened spaces, ripped carpets, lots of mould in the bathroom (toward ceiling and on shower curtain). It's so dark in the room that you can't have a shave or apply makeup. You can do this in the shared bathroom though ( see image attached of the basin in the room). Linen was nice and clean, I didn't notice any bad smells that were mentioned in other reviews. Nice and quiet room with comfy beds. I don't have any issue with the above, as it's a cheaper accommodation option, for which I am grateful. Shower cubical is small. Anyone XL and over will struggle. Centrally located to the city, everything I wanted to do and see were a short walk away. There was a pedestal fan in the room, but no aircon. I stayed in March, which was comfortable but I wouldn't want to stay in warmer weather. There is a small TV on the wall, approx 22 inch (the size of a pc monitor)

Grand (definition) adjective 1. magnificent and imposing in appearance, size, or style. I wanted to preface that, because this place is antonymous in every meaning. The rooms have no bathrooms, there’s a communal bathroom that I would say is for the traveler who is equal parts brave and foolish. The rooms themselves look like they haven’t been maintained since they opened. There is a basin in the room, “why?” you ask, well simple, that’s so after you use the communal toilet you then walk to your room and wash your hands. Now this is specific to ourselves but we arrived early and asked to check in an hour early, they said no. And in hindsight I find that funny because they didn’t need time to clean the rooms because I dont think that’s a thing they do around here. The staff downstairs were friendly, I have no issues with them at all. Cannot stress this enough. Don’t stay here. Ignore this at your peril.

I like to start with the positives and there are a few. First of all, this location is close to all the “touristy” places if you’re a visitor to Sydney. It’s very cheap and the girls manning the bar/hotel desk are quite friendly and hot. Hotel patrons get 10% off bar prices. The not-so-good bits are, the rooms look dated and I mean 70’s dated. There’s no air conditioning just fans which wasn’t too bad tbh. It’s entry level budget when it comes to facilities. They have a manual elevator which means that you need to push two metal doors to get in and out, good luck if you’re weak, injured, or drunk. So why would someone stay there? And who would stay there? A solo budget traveller or a young couple would, it’s an upgrade to a backpackers dorm. Someone that wants to be close to the must see places in Sydney. I stayed there because I do reviews of random hotels, etc for google.
