Good but not as good as it should be for a five star Hotel. Myself and my partner have stayed here a number of times (twice in the last month). Please keep in mind that everyones opinion is subjective, and the following comments are based on my personal experience.
Despite its higher price range, the hotel's reception service is notably subpar. The absence of a clear, dedicated line means guests are left to guess which staff member to approach, resulting in an often confusing and inefficient "first-come, first-served" system. This flawed process leads to disorganized clusters of customers, making it challenging to identify a service line and often delaying attention. On two stays at this property, despite booking an Executive Club room and receiving verbal confirmation of lounge access at check-in, our key cards failed to provide entry to the club lounge (floor lift/elevator access). This recurring issue necessitated an inconvenient return to reception each time, consuming valuable time to rectify an access problem that should have been seamless. Now for the positive aspects. This property boasts a prime location in the heart of Sydney's CBD, specifically in Martin Place. Its proximity to light rail lines offers easy access to Circular Quay, where Sydney's extensive ferry network connects you to destinations across the stunning harbour. It's also conveniently located near the new metro line and just a short walk from various public bus and train routes, ensuring seamless exploration of the city. Housed within Sydney's former General Post Office (GPO) building, The Fullerton Hotel masterfully retains the original grandeur and historic charm of its magnificent sandstone architecture. This historically rich structure is notable for its impressive, and once controversial, exterior sculptures across its three facades. Intriguingly, I also believe that the Tank Stream, Sydney's initial water supply, once ran beneath the building. Inside, the hotel's soaring internal spaces offer clear views of the seamlessly incorporated original building elements, creating a captivating blend of old and new. The Fullerton Executive Club rooms are impressive, particularly their bathrooms. These spaces are meticulously clean, a testament to the excellent housekeeping. Guests will appreciate the tasteful floor and wall tiling, along with a generous provision of high-quality liquid shower gels, shampoos, and moisturizing creams etc. The spacious bathrooms feature a unique clear window looking into the main room (equipped with a privacy blind), a separate bathtub, and dedicated, opaque glass-door cubicles for both the toilet and shower. The shower offers the choice of a roof mounted "rain shower" or a wall mounted/detachable shower head. The towels are large and soft. Excellent lighting and a selection of mirrors cater to various needs, while ample and conveniently located Australian 240-volt power outlets enhance functionality. Beyond the bathroom, the rooms offer ample wardrobe space, superb lighting, two comfortable lounge chairs, one with a footrest, and a practical writing table and chair. A fridge is also provided for guest convenience. The complimentary slippers are notably comfortable and exceed the average standard. For convenience, one side of the comfortable king bed is equipped with both power (Australian 3 pint 240 volt) and dual USB outlets, along with main light controls. The room features a large, wall-mounted smart TV and a nespresso capsule machine, a selection of coffee capsules and quality teas. While views vary by room orientation, most offer a reasonable view over parts of the Sydney CBD. The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi speeds were somewhat disappointing, peaking at 92.8 Mbps download and 91.2 Mbps upload. This contrasts sharply with the significantly higher speeds recorded in the club lounge: 154.2 Mbps download and 146.6 Mbps upload (CanstarBlue.com.au Internet Speed Test Tool). Would I stay at this property again? ABSOLUTELY. However, I sincerely hope management addresses the recurring, flawed...
Read moreI like lower level room because it has high roof room. The room size is around 60m2 and carpeted so it is very much classic and ai love it. I saw the painter was painting the window flame when ai was heading to the rooms so seems like they maintain the building quite often.
Big bath tub, you can stretch your legs and relax completely….. it healed my damaged body and mind so well.
This is the Singapore based hotel and I like their service style pretty much more than American or European style. Asian style service is not too posh, warm and just like your close friend but not too close. I could feel I am well looked after.
And they will clean your room when you are ready. It is not like only once room cleaning ( there are so many hotels in Sydney are time scheduled cleaning unfortunately ) so you can sleep in and enjoy your hotel life.
After 5weeks busy travel, I needed to rest and our flight was arrived at 7:30 and arrived at the hotel around 10:00. I thought it is too early and the room is not ready but hotel reception staff provided room for us, she looks like an angel for me…..! Thank you!
This hotel will be my “Sydney hotel” from now :) Will come back again and again. Very happy staying :) and room service meals were also very nice :)
There is little bit noise at night but if you have ear plug, no problem :) I was deadly tired and nothing bothers me.

Second time to stay here. What is happening to this hotel?
Slippers are cheapy super thin slippers like business hotel and bath robe belt is not ironed At all ….. I realised small details are more important for every good things.
And by mistake, my platinum+diamond earring was vacuumed into the bath tub drain hole…. That was from my mom….. sigh…
Did not have much luck this time :(

3rd time to stay here.
After house keeping people left, there is no tea cups left. So I asked them politely to bring new cup and saucers and it took over 45 minutes. I wanted to have nice tea time with cakes that I purchased before the concert and requested again over the phone but operator told me “ they are on their way “ and never arrived while I was in the room.
I saw there is only one lady who is working at the reception when I came back. And there are 5-6 guests were waiting in the line. I thought maybe this hotel cuts money to hire enough members of staffs.
And again, my bath robe belt was not ironed. Staffs are nice at least when I am facing but they should not cut the budget to hire people.
5 stars good looking hotel but maybe it is 4 stars inside…..
And about the breakfast, the taste is average. Which means they have more chance to grow and chance to get new consumers. As a marketing result, if they can offer more better or super good food for the breakfast, people will happy to pay more. For example, Japanese business hotel Dormy INN, it used to be normal cheap business hotel but since they focus on their breakfast, people started to come to their hotel more and more. There is no other competitive hotels in Sydney with breakfast yet, this is the big business chance. “ Fullerton hotel’s breakfast is amazing “ reputation will promise more customers.
Something local, something more international and tastes so good, better to send chefs to good hotels to learn about what is the good taste. Or hire someone who...
Read moreI recently stayed at The Fullerton Sydney for an eight-night leisure trip, and unfortunately, my experience fell significantly short of the five-star standards one would expect from such a renowned hotel.
Room Issues:
The most glaring issue was the terrible water pressure in the shower. After a long day, there’s nothing more rejuvenating than a good shower, but the water pressure was consistently low, making it almost impossible to enjoy. Despite multiple requests to the front desk and assurances that the issue would be addressed, it remained unresolved throughout my stay. This lack of follow-through was incredibly disappointing and affected my overall comfort.
In addition to the water pressure, the shower temperature fluctuated wildly between boiling hot and warm, which posed a serious safety concern. This inconsistency made showering not only uncomfortable but also potentially dangerous. Alarmingly, all three rooms I booked for my stay had the same issue, indicating a broader problem within the hotel.
The TV in my room was also inoperable from day one. I reported the issue immediately, hoping for a quick fix, but to my dismay, it was never repaired. For a hotel of this caliber, basic amenities like a functioning TV should be a given, not a luxury. This failure significantly impacted my downtime and overall experience.
Service:
While the staff were generally polite and well-meaning, their inability to resolve these issues was frustrating. The repeated assurances without action made me feel unheard and neglected as a guest. Effective communication and prompt solutions are essential in hospitality, and The Fullerton Sydney unfortunately missed the mark on both counts.
Amenities:
Apart from these issues, the hotel does offer some redeeming qualities. The common areas are well-maintained and the location is excellent for both business and leisure travelers. The dining options were varied and the quality of food was commendable. However, these positives were overshadowed by the significant problems in my room.
Conclusion:
Overall, my stay at The Fullerton Sydney was far from the five-star experience I anticipated. The ongoing issues with the shower's water pressure and dangerous temperature fluctuations, coupled with the staff’s inability to resolve them, were major disappointments. I overheard other guests complaining about similar issues, suggesting these are not isolated incidents but systemic problems that need urgent attention. Until these serious issues are addressed, I would be hesitant to recommend The Fullerton Sydney to...
