This small Asian fusion cafe, located in the heart of Sydney, offers a creative menu that blends primarily French and Italian dishes with Asian-inspired flavours. Operated by the same team behind Mango Coco, it continues their trend of cross-cultural culinary experimentation.
Items Ordered: Biscoff Cheese Drink Tiramisu Cheesecake Drink Mushroom Truffle Cream Croissant Triple Cheese Reuben Croissant Biscoff Mousse Cake
The Biscoff Cheese Drink featured a creamy, dessert-like profile reminiscent of crème brûlée. While it was enjoyable, the flavour of Biscoff itself was subtle, noted especially by a Biscoff enthusiast who felt the drink leaned more toward a general cream-based beverage with a small Biscoff garnish.
The Tiramisu Cheesecake Drink was a highlight, with a strong resemblance to traditional tiramisu in both taste and texture.
Moving on to the croissants, the Mushroom Truffle Cream Croissant was the only notable disappointment. Part of the croissant was still partially frozen, with the rest at room temperature. The texture and freshness of the pastry did not meet expectations, particularly for those familiar with traditional French standards. That said, the mushroom truffle cream filling had a rich and authentic flavour, with the truffle standing out nicely. The dish would have benefited significantly from being served fresh and warm.
In contrast, the Triple Cheese Reuben Croissant was served warm with a crispier texture. The flavour was satisfying and familiar, classic ham and cheese; though not particularly innovative.
The Biscoff Mousse Cake was well-balanced in sweetness and enjoyable overall. However, again, the Biscoff flavour was relatively muted, particularly for those expecting a more pronounced taste.
Overall Impression: This café offers a pleasant and creative take on European-style dishes through an Asian lens. While it may appeal to those looking for fusion-style cuisine or unique beverage options, it may not fully meet the expectations of diners accustomed to traditional European standards, especially in terms of pastry quality. Nonetheless, it provides an interesting experience for those open to contemporary interpretations of...

Rating: ★★☆☆☆
I recently dined at The Melting Cheese, and while I had high hopes for a delightful culinary experience, things took an unexpected turn that I won't soon forget.
Upon entering, I was struck by the charming decor. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that promised a wonderful meal ahead. To add to the whimsical theme, all the plates, uniforms, and the logo on the wall featured an adorable cartoon mouse, which I found quite amusing at first. It seemed to set the stage for a unique dining experience.
The food was decent, with a few tasty options on the menu that showcased the restaurant's specialty—cheese. However, my pleasant dining experience quickly soured when a giant rat unexpectedly dashed out from the kitchen. The sight was so shocking that it sent everyone in the restaurant into an uproar, screams echoing as patrons looked on in disbelief. For a moment, I thought perhaps the rat was some kind of mascot or the "boss" of the cute mice plastered throughout the establishment!
While the staff handled the situation swiftly, my appetite was unintentionally poisoned by the unexpected drama. It's hard to enjoy a meal after witnessing such a shocking event.
In summary, The Melting Cheese has a great concept and an enjoyable atmosphere, but my experience was marred by the uninvited furry guest. It was shocking that there was another customer review 2 months ago describing they saw rat came out from the kitchen… I hope they address this issue, as I believe the restaurant could become a charming go-to spot for cheese lovers if they manage to keep the kitchen...
Read moreWe visited The Melting Cheese on a Saturday night and had a booking for 6 PM. As soon as we arrived, we were seated straight away. The atmosphere was classy, inviting, and had a hip, modern vibe — we were honestly pleasantly surprised!
Usually, when a restaurant puts a lot of effort into beautiful plating and presentation (and here, every dish looked like a piece of art), the flavour can sometimes fall short. But that wasn’t the case at all at the Melting Cheese. Every single dish we ordered delivered on both presentation and taste — we’d confidently rate it 5/5 for flavour.
We started with the Soy Yuzu Orange Kingfish Crudo, which was my personal favourite — super refreshing and light, the perfect entrée. The Tom Yum Napoli Chili Seafood Pasta was beautifully balanced: not too spicy, with a slight tang that made it really refreshing. The Pork Ribs with Apple Tamarind Caramelise were another highlight — perfectly cooked and not overly sweet, just the right amount of caramelisation.
We also had the Grilled Snapper with Chimichurri — fresh, flavourful, and cooked just right — and the Wagyu with Red Wine Glaze, which was rich and tender.
For dessert, we tried the Layered Matcha Tiramisu and Strawberry Mochi Pancake. Both looked absolutely stunning — and to our delight, they tasted just as amazing as they looked (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always the case!). We also ordered a variety of drinks, and every single one was a hit — all approved by my girls’ squad!
Overall, a wonderful dining experience with great vibes, attentive service, and consistently delicious food. We’ll...
