This was the third time I have stayed here, and this time I stayed in a 3 bedroom corner suite facing North/West. So I definitely like the place enough to come back. But this stay.... I'll start with the good. The corner suite on level 66 facing North/West was amazing, absolutely huge with so much space, and a different breathtaking view from every part of the suite through the floor to ceiling windows. I spent hours just gazing out the windows. Could see everything from the ocean and the harbour, the city and all the way to the Blue Mountains on the horizon. I loved the suite and the view so much I wish I owned it. I used the gym for the first time there as well and enjoyed it.
But now for the not so good. Initial check-in was fine and the staff member polite and friendly. I checked in at 1:45pm. Check in used to be 2pm but I was aware it had been changed to 3pm so expected I'd probably be waiting until 3pm to get into the suite. I was charged a credit card surcharge even though I only have a debit card and pay with my savings account, I wasn't told about a surcharge and have never been billed one before. After paying and confirming I'd be given a North/West facing suite, was told that as the suite wasn't ready, he would call me when it was. This was fine, I knew I was early. So I sat in the foyer. An hour later at 2:45pm, after seeing new guests arrive and leave reception with room cards, and not receiving a call, I lined up again and 5 min later asked a different staff member if the room was ready now. She checked and said not yet, but would call me when it was. I sat back down, but by 3:30pm, still with no call and seeing even more people check in and get given room cards, my friend then lined up and 15 min later came back with room cards. About 3:50pm we went into the suite, and it was an East facing suite. I had specifically asked to face west so I could watch the sunsets. I went down to reception and waited in line for another 5 min, and explained we were given a suite facing the wrong way. Supposedly my suite was given to someone who checked in after me. They found another one but said it needed to be cleaned and wouldn't be ready for an hour. It was now just past 4 but I said I can wait, I asked if they can give a complimentary bottle of wine which they agreed to. We were allowed to wait in the incorrect suite but asked not to use anything. We didn't get into the correct suite until about 5:30pm, but the nice friendly staff member personally brought the new room cards and bottle of wine to us. So it was nearly 4 hours since arriving that we could actually settle in and relax. Unfortunately the suite had clearly just been given a basic clean s at a glance looked fine, but the windows, mirrored wardrobes, and mirrors in the bathrooms and living areas had finger marks and cloudy streaks as if wiped with a dirty cloth. There was a brown stain on the lounging chair. The sofas were starting to show wear and tear. It just seems like it needed a really good deep clean and I felt sorry for the cleaning staff as I'm sure they are under a lot of pressure from management to be quick. The day before I was to check out I asked reception if they could give me a late check out due to the delay checking in, but they only offered an extra hour, and today as I was enjoying the view before leaving at 11am, they called my suite at 10:10am do I felt rushed and pressured to leave.
Don't get me wrong, I will definitely stay here again, you just can't beat the views, but hopefully cleaning will have improved, & staff should be proactive offering complimentary gifts or late check outs if guests experience issues like I did, it would have made me feel...
Read moreStayed 5 nights in a 3 bedroom apartment over Christmas visiting adult children living in Sydney. Was upgraded to a corner apartment with spectacular views from the airport right back to Woolomooloo wharf. As others have mentioned that's the selling point of this property along with its very central location to qvb and Chinatown. The Coles supermarket literally underneath the building is a huge plus. Along the light rail route being 5 minutes walk from the Chinatown stop. Appreciated the early checkin at 10.30am as we caught a red eye flight. ||Condition was mostly good although the bathrooms need upgrading (chipped tiles and chipped sink) and some definite elbow grease on the grout required. I ended up going to Cole's and buying some bathroom cleaner to give the shower crevices and bath a clean myself. The garbage shute also needs a good clean as well. You have to empty your own garbage. ||The provision of amenities are sparse and you have to keep ringing down to get stuff like dishwasher tablets, rubbish bags etc. Maybe a more automated system with an app or online ordering would cut down on having to ring down etc. ||Air conditioning not working well|One annoying thing was the air conditioning system didn't function properly. there are two controls, one for the living area which worked ok but the bedroom controller, which controls all three bedrooms, was out of sync. It was either freezing in the master bedroom (18 degrees) whilst boiling (like 25 degrees - I travel with a temperature gauge) in the smaller bedrooms.||I rang to get it looked at and was advised to |- have both controls on ‘Fan Cool’ (not just ‘Fan’) |- have the fan speed up to full blast (not half way or the aircon doesn't seem to work in the bedrooms) |- have the two controls set at 2 degrees different|- draw the curtains in the smaller building||However this solution creates the cold master bedroom and ok side bedrooms. So not really a solution. |They offered to change rooms but we couldn't bear doing that having all our accoutrements laid out for Christmas Day lunch so we stayed put. ||In the end I requested some fans so the kids could get to sleep and a blanket for our master bedroom which went down to 18 degrees, with the property suggestion on how to use the air con issue. |If I were staying again I'd seek assurance from the staff that the room we were getting didn't have any known air con issues. ||To summarise excellent location and views. |It's still good value at $800 per night vs getting 3x hotel rooms in Sydney. Also the kitchen is well kitted out with big fridge and decent oven etc.|Staff as helpful as can be, notwithstanding the above mentioned issues. |Attention to bathroom clean and maintenance and air con functionality should be addressed by the property. ||Tip: if you want the CBD view down to the Harbour Bridge request a high floor with that view. Our view over towards the Sydney Cricket ground, Hyde Park and Woolomooloo Wharf whilst spectacular was not iconic Sydney.||When getting off at the Chinatown light rail stop look for the entrance to World Tower complex on the corner of Goulburn St & George St. You will end up on the Coles Supermarket level and then go up the escalator to get to World Tower reception entrance more quickly than walking up the hill...
Read moreI’m currently staying at the Meriton Suites World Tower, and I must say it was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Despite my initial concerns stemming from negative reviews I had read, my worries were quickly dispelled upon arrival.
From the moment I stepped into the premise, I was impressed by the cleanliness, neatness, and overall organization of the suites. The attention to detail was evident, and it immediately set a positive vibe/tone for my stay. However, what truly made my experience exceptional was the outstanding service provided by the staff.
The staff at Meriton Suites World Tower were not only polite and professional, but they were also incredibly prompt in attending to all the requests I had. I want to extend a special thanks to Jolie, Jacob, and Glaudia from the front desk for their exceptional service. Their names stuck with me because of the personalized attention they provided, and I have no doubt that the rest of the team working behind the scenes are equally remarkable.
I stayed in suite 6701 for 12 days (until 12th July 2023), and my review is current and up to date, I can confidently vouch for the exceptional service I received. The location of the hotel is another highlight, as it is incredibly well-connected. With a short train ride from the international airport to Museum Station (15mins), I was able to reach the hotel via a short 5 mins walk. Additionally, there were trams and buses nearby, making it convenient to explore other areas of Sydney.
One of the significant advantages of the hotel is its proximity to various attractions/convenient stores. I was able to walk to Darling Harbour, the Australian Museum, QVB, Chinatown, BigW, Coles, Woolies, Market Place, Sea Life, Wild Life Zoo, and more, all without any hassle. This was particularly important to me as I was traveling with young children aged 4 and 7, and the accessibility of these places made our stay even more enjoyable.
I noticed that there are at least 3-4 other Meriton Hotels in Sydney, and it's possible that the negative reviews came across were referring to other establishments. However, based on my experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend Meriton Suites World Tower. The team deserves high praise for their excellent service, and they truly went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.
Thank you Team, for the outstanding service provided. Will be choosing this place again (for sure) when I’m back in...
