My office booked this establishment for me for a 4 night stay. I turned up on a hot Monday afternoon and went to my room. Average room for what I paid, not a good first impression - then a knock on the door. “Sorry sir I gave you the keys to the wrong room, I’m very sorry, let me take you to your actual room”. The concierge took me to the room I paid for. Beautiful room, but the temperature in the room was nearing 30 degrees Celsius. As there were no instructions for the A/C anywhere (frustrating) I had to get reception up again. A different gentleman came up and told me I have to stand in the middle of the lounge until a red dull light comes on a roof sensor (the dull red light can’t be seen when the blinds are open). You then have to go to the A/C, press the ON/OFF light until it says OFF and then ON, then press the fan light until it says FS1, 2 or 3. At least setting the actual temperature was easy after this was done. Surely there should be instructions at the very least. End of problems (or so I thought). I went to bed at night and the blind in the bedroom is missing the plastic handle so can only be drawn around 95% of the way. Just enough for the sun to beam in at around 6am and wake me. When I left for work, remembering how hot it was yesterday, I left my second access card in the A/C so the temperature would be tolerable when I returned from work. Set to 21degrees, nothing Arctic. I got home from work today (24 degrees outside) to find the room cleaners confiscated the access card I left in the A/C and the temperature was 28C in the room. It’s as if I had been reprimanded for daring to choose a comfort level of my choosing. I went to reception and was told they don’t know why my access card was confiscated, but the A/C works on a sensor and there is no option to preset the A/C temperature so the motel stays Green. They didn’t offer to give me my second card back. They told me there’s nothing that can be done, the rooms are always hot, feel free to lodge a complaint. Here it is, not to the establishment, but to other users who can avoid wasting their money here. Reading between the lines, all this is purely for Fraser Suites to generate more profit. Imagine staying here on a 40 degree day in summer. It would be dangerous inside, at least they get to keep their overheads down. The cost to stay here for 4 nights is roughly what my adult daughter earns in a month, so this cost cutting exercise is a joke. It should not be hotter inside than outside on a warm day. I should be able to regulate a comfortable temperature for me. God knows I’m paying for it. I’ve stayed at facilities all over the world and have never come across this issue. I am a Meriton member and regret I didn’t insist the office book the Meriton Suites a few hundred metres away. My family have used Meriton facilities in Sydney and Gold Coast numerous times and I can’t fault them. They are not cheap either, but you leave feeling you got value for your money. Not so here. I won’t be making the same mistake on my next visit. I have to endure another 3 days of this with warmer weather to come :( Sorry Meriton, I strayed once, it won’t...
Read moreSome hotels grow on you over time — this one does the opposite. The longer you stay, the more you come to understand its shortcomings.
I honestly don’t understand how this hotel is rated five stars on Google Maps — it clearly falls short. I would hesitate to even categorize it as a top-tier four-star hotel.
Terrible soundproofing. You can clearly hear conversations in the hallway from inside your room — and people outside can hear you, too. There’s zero privacy. On top of that, you’ll constantly hear honking, sirens, and street noise from the road below.
Unstable and painfully slow Wi-Fi. Over my six-month stay, the hotel experienced three major internet outages, during which the connection was completely down. If you need to work remotely or don’t have a local SIM card, this place is incredibly frustrating. Even on regular days, the Wi-Fi is slow and unstable, especially in the evenings.
Poor lighting in the rooms. The rooms are very dim, and I honestly don’t understand why they won’t install more lights. If you need to take a video call, do it during the day — the evening lighting just isn’t sufficient for a decent video quality.
Fire alarms in the middle of the night. There have been three or four incidents where the fire alarm went off at night, waking everyone with an incredibly loud and terrifying sound — only for staff to later announce that it was a false alarm.
Incredibly slow elevators. For a hotel with this many rooms, there are only three elevators, and one is always out of service. On bad days, two elevators might be down, meaning you’ll wait over 10 minutes just to get one. Worse still, you’ll often have to share the elevator with cleaning staff or service carts, and of course, your floor won’t be their priority.
Lack of proper management. When cleaning the hallways, staff would often carelessly bump vacuum cleaners into room doors. One of the cleaners would even chat and talk on the phone while cleaning inside my room. It also seems like there are frequent communication issues among the hotel staff.
The good points:
Final thoughts: If you’re visiting Sydney for a short trip, this hotel might be a convenient option. However, for a longer stay, certain aspects may become increasingly inconvenient.
While it doesn’t quite meet five-star standards, it would be a solid option at a 3–4 star level. I sincerely hope the hotel takes a moment to re-evaluate what a “five-star” rating...
Read moreOverall check in was good then we got to our room and the madness started. It was about half an hour in me and my partner where getting frisky on the couch and all of a sudden I heard the door open. As a man a protective man I got up immediately and charged at the door saying don’t open it. Opened more and more I had to slam the door on there face naked and yell at them. Then the next day when the girl was ganna clean the room we where leaving the room we met the cleaner walking out of the elevator I asked are you cleaner for this level she couldn’t understand then I repeated she still couldn’t so my partner asked she than said no second time I asked I did a hand cleaning motion in the air I thought it was a universal cleaner hand signal it wasn’t that difficult to tell that I was handing a pretend rag in my hand and cleaning a surface . She overreacted something sever I don’t know if she had a general problem with me or way I looked I don’t know cause this is crazy. She then called her manager and they came to me to talk and accused me of beating up my partner or being abusive to her they said we are calling the cops. Then wanted to see her and wanted to see her arms and back to see if I had hit her this is so crazy caus there wasn’t even a fight or argument this cleaner was trying to make so much trouble I have no clue why it was verry crazy. I have a intellectual disability and this was a verry hard situation for me without support cause I had no support from even my partner at this point I felt like everyone was ganging up on me and I didn’t have support from my partner at that point cause I got pretty angry about being accused of all these things i hadn’t done and for being in a mood I wasn’t in it was classic gaslighting and I have no reason why I was the one paying and I had a terrible time apsolutly terrible. I’d edge everyone if your going for a romantic weekend stay away from this place keep it Buisness or to party there on drugs cause I don’t know but it seems to be from point of view some these cleaners like to make trouble to make there day more amusing and it’s discusting I now after my so called relaxing weekend am outta pocket for a hotel and feel||Ripped off I’m not relaxed I don’t feel like I and a good weekend. I also have now broken up with my fiancé and partner of 3 years. And on top of that I’m missing my Rolex day date outta my bag never wore it once over the weekend it was just in top pocket of my bag and only person I...
