Airports are not what they used to. Some may think that they are better. In many ways they can be thought to be better. They have food, coffee, newsagents, bars, restaurants & many full in your face branded products. Though airports are huge terminals where us ants are shepherd in clinical manner through a system designed to suck the spirit of adventure from your deep inner Katra. Coffee one of the major privileges of a socialised and civilised society is on offer across multiple coffee vendors spread like a main line cable and plugged right into your wallet. No point talking prices at the airport. I’ve gets the feeling that the food and coffee is offered under some valid sense of competition where in fact its a coffeegarch who have an unspoken contract to charge as high as possible. Still you have the choice to buy or not to buy, at Toby’s Estate they have the standard coffee hub choices including coffee, hot drinks and light sugar and savoury delights. Also the crowds were not cramming the counter at the moment I walked by. I was third in line and served quickly and in a friendly manner. My coffee was tasty, warm and well made. I have zero complaints. Zero bitterness and coffee-milked enough to hold the strength of the actual espresso taste. I also had a muffin which was yummy, thick and fluffy. So Toby’s Estate comes through with speed, service and...

If you don’t want to ruin the start of your trip, avoid this place. I only asked if it was possible to change the bread, but the staff was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of politely explaining, she spoke in a harsh tone. Even worse, she turned to the other staff as if mocking me making it sound like, 'look what this customer is asking for.' She repeated it loudly twice while I was waiting coffee, which was humiliating and completely unnecessary.

I never knew that simply asking for a different bread could be treated as such a big mistake. How can a customer possibly know whether your coffee shop has kitchen or not? (Yes, they don't have kitchen there) Expecting us to know this in advance is unreasonable.

The mocking attitude and the way I was spoken to left me shocked and deeply offended. I didn’t even bother responding because I didn’t feel this staff member was worth my words. But I want to make it clear that this was rude, unprofessional, and it spoiled what should have been a pleasant start to my morning...

well...can i say that i have experienced not only the best tasting cup of coffee in a very long time but also witnessed some really great service...i was waiting for my coffee when a very rude and somewhat angry traveller wanted to push into line and get served first...the lady behind the counter serving me (Tanaphon) was so very courteous respectful and professional dealing with the matter it was all over in the blink of an eye...what could have been a nasty confrontation ended up being nothing more than...i don't know what...maybe she gave her another persons coffee...but hey everyone was happy...i will definitely go back to get another deliciously awesome Latte and thank her for the great service...

Founded in 1997–98 by ex-lawyer Toby Smith, Toby’s Estate began as a small roasting operation in Woolloomooloo. Its mission from the start was to champion high-grade beans, authentic direct sourcing, and specialty roasts, grounded in sustainability and quality. In February 2025, their Chippendale flagship store was crowned World’s Best Coffee Shop at the inaugural World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops Gala in Madrid. It topped rankings for coffee quality, barista skill, customer service, ambiance, sustainability, and consistency Good quality coffee ☕️
