Probably the worst customer service i have experienced in my life. yep. It was so bizarre that i couldn't believe it actually happened. the food took a while to arrive (understandable) we heard leaving customers complaining about the service under their breath (so it was not just us) my friends were treated like a burden when it was time to order with a 'what do you want?' attitude the waitress took a long time to write down the orders and was forgetful and frustratingly timid (understandable, might be her first day - whatever) the lady at the front who was 'managing' things was throwing a very obnoxious pity party and tantrum for every customer to hear. was complaining (nearly shouting) about her personal financial issues which is unprofessional and should be dealt with in private now this lady was obviously distressed which is again understandable,- life happens. But what is not acceptable is making others feel super uncomfortable and by heavily and radiating such negative energy in a role of hospitality. I have serious allergies and dietary preferences so i brought my food from a trustworthy place down the road into the cafe. I was aware that some cafe's have an issue with this - my bad, I apologise. But the lady was so distressed and disorganised as well as unapproachable in such a volatile state, so much so that i genuinely thought my takeaway food was the least of her worries. She had paying and waiting customers to prioritise. Also, all my friends had already spent a lot of money here on the food already. If she had an issue with my take away food she could have told me instead of giving me a petty comment when i asked her for tomato sauce cos my friends burger was really dry. She hands it to me saying 'for your cheeky takeaway'. aha i already finished my takeaway by the time your food got to the table. 8.my friend told the waitress that 'we are not going to stay here if we are not going to be treated nicely'. word for word and civil. no reassurance, no apologies, no solution, no nothing. just a 'ok then' as we are trying to eat our breakfast in peace, we hear the staff complaining explicitly about us, loud enough for us to hear. real mature. we didn't realise the underlying racial discrimination when a group of white middle aged men came into the cafe and were welcomed with a completely juxtaposing sweet and calm composure.
I still have other issues with this place but those were the ones that came straight to mind.
If you are going to respond saying that we didn't give you feed back then and there, it was because you were not having it, you were unapproachable, had no humility and too much pride. From witnessing that behaviour we assumed you had no room to respect other people's opinions and are too self-invested in your own issues. This review is merely for the people who are planning to come here. We pray that this is a one-off because it has been 12 hours since the event and my blood is still curdling. I do not want another human to feel mistreated the way we did.
we have all worked in this industry. we have been waitresses/baristas and we all have personal issues in the background. but never in our lives have we vented our frustrations on innocent customers who never disrespected you. we are teenagers for goodness sake and we know at least that much. Praying for your cafe and hope you figure yourselves,...

First orange flag was the multiple posters out the front, different ones, written at different times (probs need to be carbon dated to know how long they’ve been there) asking for staff urgently.
While ordering at the counter the woman taking my order stroked her bare belly. I never thought I’d have to write that sentence.
The order was confirmed a few times, always with almond milk even though I said the word “oat” enough times to summon some kind of Oat God. Perhaps they have some kind of almond based kickback.
We ordered one of the items vegan, and the other with GF toast.
We sat down and our coffees came out. The waiter apologised before we’d had time to touch the cups, saying that they weren’t doing a good job today, and if we wanted, they could make us another. Why they thought I’d want another sub-par coffee from a belly-rubbing waiter, I’ll never know.
The coffees were fine.
While waiting for our food, we overheard multiple conversations worthy each of a Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares episode.
One group of 6 customers were joking how none of them had gotten the correct thing the first time they ordered. Another table, who had asked for gluten free toast, ended up with regular bread. The waiter tried to remove the bread in-situ until the customer said they are allergic. The staff said they’d toast some for them and that it was the chefs fault because he speaks limited English.
While English is luckily my first language, and my partner and English teacher, we thought it inappropriate to setup an English school in the kitchen. It’s a bit dangerous, too many things to touch accidentally.
We finally got our food, it was not vegan, however did contain the somewhat elusive GF bread. The food was okay, it had potential. To their credit, the beans were damn good, albeit a bit liquid-y.
By the time the staff returned to the other customer with GF bread, the food was cold. Customer asked if could be heated up, the staff member asked the customer if they could use the microwave. The customer advised not to use it for “too long, it will get rubbery”. Seems even Chef Mike needs so help here.
I could write more but I’ve died of starvation waiting here...
Read moreThis was so unpleasant! I work in retail, so I very much know what it's about to deal with customers the whole day and found one of the staff members to be very rude to me!
I needed to change the coffee I had ordered twice - first time I ordered an oat coffee which was falsely received as a regular, a term I never use as I'm a foreigner. That in itself can happen, even if I needed to find out myself by the taste I had been served cow's milk. I then checked in, got blamed on ordering wrong and got the coffee changed and unfortunately the 2nd one on oat tasted very weird, I think there was sth wrong with the coffee beans or pressure. And staff wanted to blame it all on me and even treating me as if I was stupid, telling me if course coffee would taste different when it's plant-based now. How do you think have I found out about the first one being cows-milk-based?
She's been very rude to me and even wanted to charge me again for the change of coffee! How bad. Never again. Please don't treat people like that, especially when they pay for their order and trust in you.
Last coffee was fine then, eventually. Other staff member...
