Most disorganised restaurant I’ve eaten in

  1. entree 1 - veggie spring rolls… contents were obviously burnt during the cooking process but still used … horrible
  2. entree 2 - chicken satay sticks… never came to the table, when waitress was asked by me 25 minutes after 1 of 2 main courses came to the table she denied taking the order for the satay sticks.
  3. 10 minutes after I asked about the satay sticks, I went into the restaurant- we were in the alfresco area - and asked the when the 2nd main course was due. The owner, a rude, middle aged Asian woman yelled at me, it is coming now. I said, the other main course dish was now cold. The 2nd main course - chicken laksa was delivered in a big bowl but only filled 1/3 of the bowl. The table to my right had similar issues snd with the same dish. They received the same chicken laksa with the same quantity. They were not happy as well. On injecting the 1st spoon of the liquid in the bowl, I found it to be just colder than Luke warm. I didn’t consume any more if the laksa. I was totally disgusted with the lack of service, quality of food presented and the attitude of the owner. I went inside to pay the bill, was given the amount verbally after a further 10 minutes wait as there were a long line of unhappy customers waiting to pay as well. When told the amount of my bill, I said to the owner, snd what about the discount for the lack of service snd very poor quality of food. The owner shouted back to me…. No discount, write a review on fb. While waiting to pay the bill, I managed to look into the kitchen and saw the mess over the floor and preparation area - various spilt foods and bits of meat and vegetables. The “chef” if you can call him that wiped his nose with his left ungloved hand and continued his cooking….putrid!

I STRONGLY ADVISE NOT YO WASTE YOUR MONEY IR YIME IN THIS...

I was not happy with tonight’s service (Saturday night) it was extremely busy!!

When we entered, they didn’t take us to our table and told us to just sit outside! And they did not come out to take our order, I had to walk in to ask them to take our order! 🙄

I ordered the Buddha bowl, it was a little salty! The flavouring was in between Chinese & Thai cuisine, as this restaurant is based on fusion cuisines, so it included Thai, Chinese, Korean & Japanese! Tasted nice but it was a little too salty for me, so I had to absorb it with steamed rice to balance out the flavours.

My brother-in-law’s food order didn’t arrive!! He ordered fried fish, and he asked one of the staffs to check on his order, but they never came back with a response, so I took charge and I went to ask again, with my firm voice. Then they finally arrived!! He liked it, but he did not appreciate the kind of service he received.

When it was time to pay, it took forever to even pay for our order!

I noticed that Uber eats and people that ordered takeaway from the restaurant were the main priority, disregarding the customers eating in the restaurant.

They took awhile to attend to us in the start, but once they took our order, they did provide us the high chair for my nephew who is a toddler, which I appreciated.

The papaya salad tasted delicious, the Buddha bowl (a little salty) the coconut was small with barely anything inside & it was $7.00! What the?

We wanted to order the desserts, but the service took too long, so we decided to go home without dessert.

We paid $112.77 in total...

Yesterday, the 20th of July was my second time to explore the Blue Mountains. My friends and I went on a trail walk and before going home, we decided to drop by Katoomba to have our lunch. The Basil Nut Cafe and Restaurant staff welcomed us with a smile then lead us to our seats. Before they gave us the menu, they checked first our body temperature as a precautionary measure for COVID (and thank God we have a normal temperature). We ordered various foods as you can see in the photos. Foods are a bit pricey but understandable because of the COVID and the servings are big. As the time past by, I noticed that more people are arriving. Good thing we reached the place earlier than them. I suggest booking a reservation beforehand to secure your seat, especially during peak hours. We waited for about 15-20 minutes before they served our orders. I'm not really a fan of spicy foods, but I enjoyed their tom yum soup. The flame-grilled chicken was also good. As per my friends, they also love tom yum soup and the egg fried rice. With regards to the interior of the restaurant, the colourful menus written on the walls was a great idea to attract more customers.
