OMG! This is the best pizza I’ve had in all of Australia! I’m from an Italian background so I know my pizzas and Vitaly’s wood fired pizza is so perfect I can’t believe it. The dough is absolutely amazing and they are not stingy on the toppings like most other pizza places I’ve been to. It’s just the right consistency of everything. I live in Los Angeles but originally from Canberra and after stumbling across Vitaly last month Ive come back multiple times when I’ve been in Sydney because the pizza is so good. The margarita and tartuffo pizzas are an absolute must they are my go to. The gnocchi is also perfection! Also I’ve had gnocchi at many Italian restaurants and none come close to this. They are so soft and just melt in your mouth you don’t even have to try to chew and that’s when you know they are good!. The flavor is perfect in both the 4 cheese sauce one and the Napolitana. I’ve recommended this place to all my family and that means soMething because I’m picky at restaurants because I know how to cook good so if I’m saying something is perfect then it must be really really really good. Definitely recommend Vitaly to anyone!!!! The staff are also really nice and friendly!

Their wood fired pizzas were amazing. Loved the lovely charred tiger spots dotted all over the perfectly puffed up pizza crust. The toppings were sufficient and fresh. No wonder the place filled up so quickly. 🙂 Two other dishes I recommend will be Salt and Pepper Squid and Squid Ink Vitaly. The light batter coated squid was tender soft almost melt in your mouth and the flavour in the pasta was delicious. The combination of salami and prawns offered a good balance of flavours to the dish. 😋 Two dishes that I don’t recommend are Chicken Risotto and Veal Saltimbocca. The risotto was overcooked, I didn’t get that firmness when I chewed it and the white wine taste was overpowering. Family member described the lemony sauce in Veal Saltimbocca was way too lemony, she felt like eating lemon scented diffuser.. 🤨

First time visiting this restaurant. The setup is simple and personally find it a bit too narrow as there is a bar counter to serve the drink. We have ordered a few pizzas, and tried them but did not like them very much, somehow the flour or thickness of them is too much. The rest of the taste and ingredients are good. As for service, I think they need further training. I have tried to ask for a tabasco sauce from the manager and saw him ask the lady staff to get it... and the lady staff walk to the back of the restaurant and walk out, and inform the manager something (I think they don't have it). After that, both continue their stuff without coming back to me to update my request. If you are OK with such an attitude, you may visit for a try but I don't think you will get any surprise!

The search for an authentic Italian pizza can sometimes be painful. We know of a few but none are convenient to where we live and others that claim to be an authentic experience fall way too short, far too often.

This was the second time we dined in at Vitaly’s and whilst the pizza was slightly better the first time eating in, this time was still better than most others in and around the eastern suburbs. And that say’s something... I’d rate their pizza tonight as fantastic and on our first visit I’d say it was almost perfect. The only difference being a marginally softer dough the first time with a slightly stronger sense of flavour to the sauce, otherwise both times were brilliant. A slightly more oozing formaggio would make these visits faultless.

We love prosciutto and Vitaly’s version of the Rucula is divine. The base is thin with a volumptuous crust. The sauce is rich and tasty. And unlike so many other pizzas you can actually still taste the sauce even after the pizza’s been baked. Thank you !

There are many varieties of pizza in Australia but if it’s a real pizza you’re after, something akin to what you might get from someone like “Via Napoli” then you won’t be dissapointed. And in fact, it’s not just the pizza that impresses but everything we’ve ordered, from the arancini to the mussels to the Italian salad, they all set themselves apart. And if I close my eyes I might be fooled into thinking I was at mums house tonight for dinner. Big balls of bocconcini in my salad were a nice surprise and the espresso just like home.

Sometimes you stumble across something great when you stop searching and that’s how we feel about Vitaly’s. We stumbled across it by way of an invitation to a luncheon. And I can see us becoming regulars.

Italians don’t always make or serve the most authentic Italian foods and for this reason we rarely dine out on Italian. These guys may not be traditional Italians but you’d be fooled into thinking otherwise. I know Mum and Dad thoroughly enjoy eating here, both Italian born and both wizards themselves in the kitchen.

The owners are comforting, service is good, food is excellent, fully licensed with the option to BYO. Price is ok and on par with other restaurants in this range if maybe slightly more on their pizza selections.

Vitaly definitely improves the vitality of pizza in our region.

Sept 2025 review update: I’ve been coming to this restaurant from day one and it used to be one of my favourites. Unfortunately, it seems the quality has slipped in Randwick, (since the renovation.) The dishes that were once full of flavour now feel a bit lacklustre, and the attention to detail that made this place special seems to have faded . Service is okay, but not quite as attentive as before. It’s definitely not the standout it once was. I hope they can get back to their former standards, because I (and friends with similar opinions) would love to return and enjoy the original experience (Randwick).

I’ve also eaten at their Matraville location a few time and, honestly, I cannot fault it—everything there is consistently excellent. I hope Randwick location can get back to its former standards, because I’d love to enjoy the experience I remember. ................................................................................... April 22 Review: Blown away again by the BRILLIANT food. Everything is consistently good. Try the stuffed mushrooms, SO NICE. Thanks again to the owner, the chef and the wonderful staff.

6 Feb 22 Review: The quality of ALL dishes were EXCEPTIONAL! 5/5 for food This place has always been good, it is now better than ever. Menu recently upgraded. Sat night 5.30pm early dinner. We chose: Vodka Rigatoni- Excellent! $25 Seafood Stew- Mind blowing, so tasty.$30 Grilled Salmon - very nice, decent serving.$30 Pizza, they are ALL GOOD, woodfired. $25 Even the Italian salad was brilliant. $15 Wines....prices not over the top. but wish I could bring my own. Used to be BYO, but was told that this is only now a Monday - Thursday option. Hard to find correct info on the website. Would be nice if I could bring my choice of wine and more than happy to pay corkage. Service was great with one particular waitress going the extra mile, wiping down tables and chairs thoroughly and excellent general housekeeping. Not all staff were wearing masks correctly (which I know can be difficult at times). Once the place fills up...

Really disappointed with our experience, especially given all the positive reviews.

I placed an order for delivery directly from the website. Delivery was estimated to arrive an hour and fifteen minutes after placed. A long time but fine. After nearly an hour and a half with still no word, called the restaurant to see what was going on. I was told the order wasn't made yet because they were waiting for a delivery driver and it would be another 20-30 minutes. I understand if there was an issue, but I found it shocking that there was no communication, no attempt to call and let us know the delivery would take nearly 2 hours. I would have offered to come and pick up - which I ended up doing in the end anyways.

Went to pick up and we were offered a tiramisu as a consolation but I had to ask for the delivery fee to be refunded.

After all that, it would have been okay if the food was good but that was a disappointment too. The pizza base was completely wet and fell apart in our hands. The 'garlic bread' was just slices of soggy white bread, dripping in oil. The tiramasu had liquid in it, as though it had been defrosted. All around just an unpleasant experience, and would not...
