We had the pleasure of dining at Wafire Grill in Neutral Bay on Saturday night with a group of six, and it was an incredible experience! This new Middle Eastern restaurant, open for about a month, has truly hit the ground running.
We opted for the banquet, and while the dishes are on the smaller side (typical meze) they kept coming, it was amazing. So much food for $65 pp. Every dish was exceptional — from the vibrant Fatoush salad, smoky baba ghanoush, and super smooth hummus to the fresh house tabouli, perfectly spiced kebabs, tender lamb tagine, roasted cauliflower, and flavorful potato dish. The kofte was also a standout, bursting with flavor. The spices were masterfully balanced, and every bite was packed with flavour. My husband is from the Middle East and was blown away by how authentic all the dishes were.
The cherry on top was the chef coming out to chat with us — such a personable and warm touch that made the evening even more special.
Exceptional, great value and BYO, cannot recommend Wafire Grill highly enough. This is true Mediterranean dining and I can’t wait to return!
Didn’t get any photos of the food (to busy enjoying) but here are some...
Read moreI have visited WaFire twice, most recently yesterday with my mother. We ordered the Lamb Shanks ($37), Garlic & Lemon Chicken ($31), and Saffron Rice ($12). The total bill should have been $80 plus the 40% EatClub discount. However, I was charged $103, which is incorrect.
When I called this morning to raise the issue, the manager, Wasim, was not only dismissive but also rude. He told me, “You should have checked the bill before paying, it’s by law,” and insisted I had already received my discount, before hanging up on me. This response was unacceptable.
The EatClub discount is a published offer for all members, not a special favour, and I should not have been overcharged. While I was not initially seeking a refund, I expected at least respectful communication and acknowledgment of the error. Instead, the service I received left me extremely disappointed.
I would like this matter reviewed and corrected so that future customers do not experience...
Read moreBrand new restaurant, just opened about 6 weeks ago. The food tastes very fresh! We ordered the mixed sauces, the mixed meat plate and some Persian rice. We loved all of it, the baba ghanoush was the standout sauce, all of the meat plate was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. Loved the mint flavoured table water too such a nice little touch.
The owner is very friendly and welcoming. He remembered us from the week before when we tried to get a table with no booking.
The only improvement point which it sounds like they are working on is to make the atmosphere a little more inviting. It seems a bit bare at the moment. I think some curtains at the window would make it feel a bit more homely and inviting, just a suggestion.
However, this restaurant is new and I’m sure these small things will improve with time. The food is absolutely incredible, so you need to try this place if you haven’t already.
It’s BYO too which is a bonus. We will...
