Stopped in for a drink here and plugged my electric car in the car park only to come back to see the club switched the power off and left a big note saying I’m not allowed to charge my EV in their car park.
For a club that dedicates most of its floor space to profiting god knows how much money from addiction via the pokies, you’d think they wouldn’t care too much about someone taking about $2 worth of electricity while visiting their premises.
As always with these types of clubs you’re always going to better off supporting local businesses for a drink or feed, rather than these greedy gambling venues.
UPDATED: HI Jeremy. Yes, I understand the need to upgrade the circuit if EV charging equipment were to be installed, even those with charging rates as low as 5kW. But the equipment I was using was a simple cable for the car - it uses between 1kW and 2 kW, less than your air conditioning systems plugged into the same circuit and less than many of your other appliances. They are designed specifically to plug in to existing circuits, and are in no way a threat. I really think the club needs to rethink its policy on this matter.
Many of your members will be transitioning to EVs and will appreciate the support you provide. Either by allowing trickle charging, or at some point providing AC charging equipment - which would of course need a circuit upgrade. Perhaps one day, if they were plugged in, they could help keep the lights on in the club, and the pokies running, in case of a...

Read moreThe Garden: Food as usual was great. Which is why this isn’t a 1 star review. The service today was appalling: They couldn’t seat us in the dining area as there were no free tables. It was fully booked. The dining area was empty and the table next to us had a sign saying it was booked at 1pm. We arrived at 11:45am When we placed our order we were told the kitchen was not able to bring out our entree as an entree. It would come when everything was ready. Again, the dining area was mostly empty. Disappointing that a professional kitchen can’t achieve a bare minimum of service. Asked a waitress for a jug of water. Told we had to go ask at the bar. She then went off to polish cutlery. Again, dining hall was mostly empty. Asked for a jug of water at the bar. Told there were no jugs left. Given individual glasses. 2 min later see staff member bring 3 jugs to other staff, they all then proceed to drink out of these jugs using straws. Went to order coffee, waited in long bar line, once I got to the front I was told to go to a different part of the bar and wait there again. We left and had desert elsewhere.
Don’t go if you value your time. Food was good but you can get good food and good service elsewhere.
Oh and after perusing the menu, I asked if I should put them somewhere separate to be sanitized and was told not to...
