Horrible experience- sat down at 6:30PM & food came out at 7:30PM (Mind you, they asked us to leave at 7:30-8PM). The only reason why our food actually came out was because we kept asking for it. After an hour of waiting, we wanted to pay what we already had eaten and leave but the owner didn’t let us. She was rude & didn’t seem quite unapologetic. When we were waiting at the front, she quickly hurried her staff to get the food out of the kitchen - What a miracle because all our food came out in less than 10 minutes. What are the chances? Food was mediocre - fresh seafood was served but if anything, it was quite bland. Lacked flavour and the portion was quite less compared to what you get from other restaurants. Here’s what we ordered: 3 portions of crab and corn soup 2kg of mud crab with sticky rice tofu hot pot with seafood 1 pigeon Our bill totalled to $400. I must say I can get better value elsewhere....
Read moreThe restaurant opens at 5pm which is when we arrived but was told they won't be serving us until the cook has eaten. I beg your pardon? The cook and staff ate in the restaurant, so we waited about 30mins eating a handleful of peanuts between 6 people (thank goddess these were good). 3 of the 4 dishes arrived and after following up on the 4th dish, it still did not arrive. We asked to cancel it, and was told it's being cooked already and can't cancel. A few minutes later the waitress comes over and said we'll cancel it. I think this means it actually wasnt in the process of being cooked afterall. Luckily the food that did arrive was delicious, but not enough to want to come back...
Read moreThis is one of those hidden gems in Sydney that not many people know about. But those who do are regulars who visit again and again. They serve old school classics in sizeable portions. Think xo sauce pipis with vermicelli, clay pot crab, and steamed seafood (like fish, abalone, scallops). There's always house soup, fruit and dessert served if having dinner. The decor is nostalgic and seating is relatively spacious. Only downside is the limited free parking at the back of the restaurant so it's best to get there early. (but I'd say "limited parking" seems to be a mandatory staple that comes with all old school Chinese restaurants...
