When we hungry folks were scouting out a good place for dinner along the streets of Beverley Hills, we decided to try out barbecue and we left with not a drop left of meat or disappointment. We were assigned to a table near the open window which we were unsure at first, but as the night went on, the seating placement was absolutely perfect for us. The smoke from the barbecue filters out the window and allows breathing room, my gratitude to the architect there. I also give my thanks to the delicious food at Manmaruya. While service can be hot and cold, it doesn't distract from the ingredients being the centre of attention. We ordered a Manmaruya Yakiniku plate and a Short Rib bento which both came relatively quickly. I can definitely say that the high price points for the banquets are justified, considering the bountiful amount of food that comes with each. All three of us were satisfied and beaming with glee at the end of the meal. The bento possesses a great variety of both barbecue and ready-to-eat foods to pass the time while waiting for the meat to cook. Their marinated short ribs are immaculate with the divine mixture of sweet and pepper that permeates throughout the juicy meat. All the ingredients are fresh with top-notch quality, each bite being a flavourful intermission between lively conversations. I would recommend bookings for dinner as the restaurant becomes very popular once the sun sets. So bring your friends along to the feast or if you're on your lonesome, treat yourself to Manmaruya's cure for...

Had the worst experience at the restaurant tonight. It was our first time at the restaurant, as my daughter and I entered the restaurant, no one greeted us. We literally stood there for a couple of minutes trying to get the waiters' attention. We instantly felt unwelcomed. Then we've ordered and waited, and waited, we've tried getting the waiter's attention to ask to order drinks, no attention was given. Finally ordered water, waited, and waited and waited, nothing. Waited for our BBQ Beef plate, half hour later, rice all cold, finally I stood up to ask the head chef about the beef plate, to her surprise, the waiter didn't even place the order, mind you, this was after chasing the waiter about 3 times about the beef plate and had replied us every time it's coming. Ended up paying almost $70 dollars for entree, cold rice that we didn't eat, and no sight of main. Walked out of the restaurant frustrated, hungry and regretful (why I didn't walk a little further to Pancakes on the Rocks instead). Word of advice to those who chooses to go to the restaurant, maybe make orders to the head chef would warrant getting your orders right. Service on a Wednesday night is so bad, hate to imagine what it would be like during weekends. Definitely not a...

Having been to the Manmaruya in Ashfield and enjoying it, I thought I'd try one closer to home, and to say the least we were impressed.

We had the Wagyu oyster blade and skirt, with Gyoza, garlic edamame and tuna/salmon sashimi.

As always, their sashimi was fresh and thick. The Gyoza were actually surprisingly good! The edamame was fantastic, especially thanks to them using chilli salt/flakes as opposed to a sticky sauce some places seem to be more keen on. And finally, the beef was absolutely fantastic, and had 2 dipping condiments, one being a sesame oil I believe, and the other was presumably a yaniniku sauce which was 10/10 delicious.

The service was quick and friendly, and the staff seemed to be quite organised. They also sprayed and wiped down the tables and seats after each sitting. There wasn't a long wait on food either, granted, it was a Monday evening, so it wasn't their busiest time.

Will be coming...

Do not bother going here. The Korean bbq meat is incredibly overpriced for the portions you get. I spent over $100 as the hotpot and bbq set was so small that I ended up needing to order a sushi platter in order to be full. Really overpriced and the hygiene of the restaurant is also very suspect. The menu you receive is not only sticky by incredibly smelly. It has that typical old wet mop smell you will recognise if you have done any cleaning work before in the past. I have no idea how this place has an average rating of over 3 stars yet alone 4 stars. Maybe when this restaurant was new and had a better owner/staff? Either ways, avoid this place and save yourself the disappointment. For $50/pp, there are a lot of better alternatives nearby.
