Worst worst worst experience in Crown Sydney Youshii’s omakase . Pre-booked one month in advance. At that time, I have brify explain the dietary of mine in carbohydrates .I called again two weeks before the originally scheduled 8th to communicate that I was abstaining from carbohydrates .The reception at the time told me that it had been recorded and would also notify the kitchen if the menu could be changed. Today, on the 8th, call me within a few hours before to re-confirm the details of mine dietary make sure that I can’t have any carbohydrates. I made it clear that I can’t eat it. Of course I understand that there will be rice in sushi , also accept if it is not convenient to change the menu. The reception advised me that i can leave the rice on the side. I also agree. 10 minutes later the front desk called me again, saying that our chef suggested that you eat on the side if you don't eat rice? I said you mean you need to force the guests to eat something that cannot be eaten? The reception told me that because the chef is Japanese because their culture is to eat rice, if not it is disrespectful. I said that I understand very well, but due to personal reasons, I just can't eat starch, but the chef can't force the guests, isn't this also disrespectful? And we're not in Japan right now. Or should you give me a week's notice? The guests I invited are already on their way. The front desk said sorry and said I will call you again. After that, my appointment was canceled without any phone communication. This was the worst, worst and worst experience I had in Australia. Especially from high level stand...

Importantly: would we go back? Yes. We knew that after about 2 dishes. Yoshii and Hyota were brilliant and provided a genuine 5-star Omakase experience, feeling like we were at a friends place by the end. Very similar to fine-dining we’ve been to around Japan. Don’t come here if you’re expecting a quick bite to eat, it’s an entire performance and perfect for foodies. Brilliant produce, thoughtfully presented with about 20-24 dishes in total, ranging from tuna, abalone, squid, cedar-smoked toothfish and a wide range of sake that our server talked us through. Our dessert with the best wishes for our Anniversary was lovely. The plates, bowls and glasses themselves are picked out by Yoshii himself, with many of them being hand made - these add to the eclectic presentation and the artistry of the whole experience. The private outdoor area you can sit at for drinks after is a great touch and a little oasis from the rest of the property. I think it was perfect with 8 people and I know Crown wants to make it 10... with the shape of the counter, I’m not sure this is a great idea, but that’s just a small note. It’s worth getting there about 10 mins early and grabbing good seats, we just ordered our sake while we waited. We’re very excited to see how the menu evolves overtime and can’t wait for the Japanese uni (sea...

I cannot fault this place.

I have been to other degustation places and had omasake before but never to this standard!

There is just something so magical about this experience it’s to die for. I was extremely lucky when being able to make this reservation at the beginning of January. Yes the booking system is a little flawed but doesn’t mean you need to be salty about it.

This is a 10 person sitting restaurant only. Last night there was only 8. With Yoshii, you’re able to talk to him and it’s an interactive experience.

The food is just next level phenomenal, by the end of it you are full and ready to go to sleep. It’s around a two hour sitting with 8 dishes including dessert, but there is a lot of food.

Yoshii’s signature dish with the toothfish is just perfection. Yoshii also has a 28 year old sauce which is to die for!

The presentation of all of it is amazing and just simply beautiful.

The service was also impeccable, I cannot remember her name she was wearing a blue dress, but she was attentive but not overly attentive, absolutely perfect!

I cannot fault this place. If you’re lucky enough to score a booking, you will not be disappointed!

Edited: Just came again 1 year later and omg so good! The food is still impeccable and it’s...

Made a reservation for the omakase which is located in a private room at the entrance to Nobu. The course included about ten pieces of sushi, a beautifully arranged plate of sashimi representing the current seasonality, and several other dishes. All the seafood used in the omakase were very fresh and was especially noticeable when tasting the sashimi. The Kagoshima wagyu was perfectly cooked, very tender and marbled with no gristle at all. Each piece of nigiri sushi was delicious and satisfying; some of the highlights includes the squid which was texturally unique to the bite due to how it was cut, the fatty kamatoro tuna which comes in only a small quantity from the collar, the fresh and smooth Hokkaido sea urchin, the soft and sweet pearl meat which is said to be superior to scallop, and the fluffy sea eel drizzled with chef Yoshii's 32 years old concentrated sweet soy sauce. The egg omelette was also very unique and tasty; the top and bottom layer has a sponge cake texture and the centre was like a creamy scramble egg which is barely holding it's shape. Overall it was a great dining experience, food wise as well as the friendly and attentive service from the staff as well as the chef's interactions with every customer.
