Barangaroo Reserve during Vivid Sydney is an absolutely magical experience, a truly unforgettable fusion of nature, art, and innovation. Far more than just a park, it transforms into a canvas of light and imagination, inviting visitors to step into a dreamlike world. One of the standout installations, "Fly Me to the Moon," truly lives up to its name. A colossal, softly glowing inflatable moon hovers majestically over the native gardens, creating an ethereal ambiance that feels truly celestial. The added touch of a swing positioned beneath it offers a whimsical, interactive photo opportunity, making everyone feel like they're literally swinging among the stars. It's a testament to how Vivid can blend playful elements with profound visual impact. Beyond the moon, Barangaroo Reserve is dotted with various other captivating light artworks. You might encounter "An Act of Being," which powerfully uses dance and technology to reflect on First Nations experiences, or "Alchemy of Atmospheres" at Nawi Cove, a multi-sensory experience that uses lightning, fog, and sound to create an immersive, almost cautionary tale about our planet. The way light plays across the unique tessellated sandstone foreshore, a modern reinterpretation of the area's pre-colonial natural landscape, adds another layer of depth, highlighting the reserve's historical significance and careful design. The beauty of Barangaroo Reserve, even without the Vivid lights, lies in its meticulously recreated native garden, boasting over 75,000 indigenous trees and shrubs. When bathed in the glow of the installations, these natural elements take on a new, almost fantastical quality. The winding paths and open lawns, designed to mimic the original headland, offer countless vantage points to enjoy the spectacle, from intimate coves to expansive views across the sparkling harbour. Vivid Sydney at Barangaroo is a testament to the power of art to transform space and evoke wonder. It's not just about seeing pretty lights; it's about experiencing the blend of culture, history, and cutting-edge creativity, all set against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. It's a place where the spiritual and the celebratory...

Barangaroo Reserve is one of those places that wins you over the moment the harbour comes into view. The headland is stitched together with layered sandstone blocks and native plantings, so it feels both sculpted and natural. You can wander along curved paths that hug the water, climb gently to the lawned terraces, then stop and watch ferries cross the frame of the Harbour Bridge. Sit on the honey coloured rock steps and you get that salty breeze and a close look at the textures in the stone, while the city skyline rises just behind you.

It is an easy spot to roam without a plan. Follow the foreshore on Wulugul Walk for changing angles of the bridge and Goat Island, then loop back through the higher paths for long views toward Balmain and the North Shore. Families gravitate to the lawns for picnics and cartwheels, runners use the smooth paths, and there are plenty of small nooks where you can tuck away with a book. If The Cutaway happens to be open for an exhibition, duck inside for a quick look, the scale of the space is a surprise. Late afternoon is special. The light softens over the water, the stone warms in colour and the whole headland takes on a relaxed, golden look that makes you want to linger.

Getting here is simple and adds to the appeal. Wynyard Walk brings you out a few minutes from the reserve, and the nearby wharf makes a ferry arrival feel like part of the outing. Paths are mostly step free with gentle gradients, though there are stair runs if you feel like a short climb. Shade comes and goes, so a hat and water bottle make life easier on bright days. Bring a picnic rug, arrive an hour before sunset, and let the harbour put on a show while the city hums just...

Last week I visited around the precinct of Darling harbour . The wide sandy paths , landscaped with shady tree's and a good range of cafés restaurants and tourist retailers. An attractive area boasting stunning waterviews. Its accessible for disablity, wheel chairs. A big range of restaurents beneath the apartments have georgeous planted, aethetically designed gardens . I was pleasantly taken back by the interesting architecture, sculpture's can almost liken it to any overseas european country. The addition of facinating architecture instantly brightens and lifts the atmosphere. Not only is it a business centre also residential and study spaces like the unusual circular library with its eco friendly flowering vines and weaving plants that instantly as desensitising the large concrete imprint. Access is particularly easy. Can catch a ferry, bus, walk, the new Wynard station tunnel is state of the art design well lit, safe . Other new attractions are the swimming netted area just infront of Bangaroo headland reserve added this year 2023. Bangaroo has a very well established headland space great for walks, excercising and exhibition space on top of the headland and beneath. The unfortunate thing is, the retailers relade to me that in the evening there is no interest , what a shame because it is very appealing area and has an international feel about. I would greatly suggest if this area could be better advertised to draw and develop more public interest to this fabulous cafés, food eateries space & park would be...
