Scammers- Deceptive Business Practices - Avoid this Store!

I experienced an unfortunate incident with this store, which operates on the YumboJumbo platform. I ordered a kebab and chips after midnight, mistakenly not realizing the shop was a 25-minute drive from my location.

I immediately tried to cancel the order within 2 minutes, following the instructions in the order confirmation email which stated that no refund would be issued if the food had been prepared. I made numerous attempts to reach out to the store via the provided phone number, but my calls went unanswered. I also sent a text message explaining the situation and my desire to cancel the order, but again, received no response.

After waiting 15 minutes, I decided to drive to the shop myself. Upon arrival, the store employee admitted to receiving my cancellation text message and assured me that he hadn't prepared the food. Yet, he did not provide a convincing reason as to why he failed to respond or cancel the order on his end.

He advised me to contact YumboJumbo to cancel the order, which I did. However, today, YumboJumbo responded stating that the chips had been prepared, hence, a refund couldn't be issued. Ironically, no chips were given to me on the day of the order!

I have attached an image of their order acceptance machine to substantiate that I indeed visited the store that day. This is for another customer order but proves I was there!

This store has shown poor customer service, lack of communication, and unethical business practices. I would strongly advise against placing any orders from here. They don't deserve your hard-earned money.

Update : After my initial review, there have been some developments that I feel are important to share.

Following a disappointing experience with this store via the YumboJumbo platform, where I faced severe communication issues and questionable business practices, I took my concerns directly to YumboJumbo. They processed a full refund only when I provided irrefutable evidence (a photo of the store's order acceptance machine). It is regrettable that such proof was required for what should be standard customer service.

Further, the owner of the store contacted me directly, stating that my review was affecting his business. It's disconcerting that the concern was more about the effects of my review rather than rectifying the problem that led to my complaint in the first place.

While I have received a full refund and the store owner did eventually reach out, the overall experience has left a sour taste. As such, I've updated my review to reflect these developments.

GROSS! COCKROACH INFESTED PLACE!!!

My partner went to order a kebab and while placing his order, he saw a cockroach crawling on their bain marie. The staff went in and try to discreetly shoo it away using a take away container then proceeded to prepare orders. My partner then saw 2 more cockroaches where the veggies are at and that’s when he asked to cancel his order and request for refund. Staff then said order is already being prepared and they cant refund it but when my partner pointed out that he saw 3 cockroaches crawling where the foods are being prepared and on the veggies itself, the staff just silently hand over some cash and act normal and proceeded to serve the next customer. You’l look around and you wont wonder why there are cockroaches here in the first place. They really should take the hygiene here more seriously.

I dont normally put reviews like this as it may seriously affect the business, but the blatant disregard on the food safety and hygiene of this place is just so upsetting. Hopefully the management sees this and take action...

Not the tastiest kebab I've ever had but still passable. And might well come here again. The old dear is very nice, sort of like a universal grandmother. The guy making the kebabs needs a refresher course. Lean on the chicken, tabouleh, tomato and sauce, very generous with the lettuce.
