We ordered the James Dean hot dog with a side of fries with gravy and cheese. The hot dog was delicious! The bun was soft, the onion rings crispy, and the garlic butter amazing. The fries initially turned up with no toppings but this was quickly rectified when we spoke with the servers and gravy and cheese were added. The fries were delicious too.
I was disappointed that table water is not served. You have to purchase a drink.
Decor is very reminiscent of a 50s diner that you see in movies with the red and white vinyl booths and general colour scheme. The place did feel a little crowded and a bit mish mash as there are a lot of nostalgic items; I guess to help remind you of the decade and what it was known for.
Overall, I would recommend. Great value for money and the food is good. I plan to return again and try something else next time.
2ND VISIT
We did end up going back 2nd time and the experience was even better. We went for lunch it was busy but very well managed. The manager made it clear wait for food would be about 20 mins to set expectations. If anything the busyness actually added to the ambiance as it made it feel even more like a 50s diner with the servers bustling around with quick turnaround of tables and orders.
This time we ordered the Montana burger with Yankee fries and then Cinnamon Pillows for dessert. The food was as good as the first time! The burger was delicious especially the maple bacon, the pulled pork on the fries was so tender and the cinnamon pillows are absolutely amazing. I almost didnt want to share them with my husband.
I can't recommend this place enough. The food has all the big American flavours without any excessive greasiness and the service wonderful. I can't wait to return the next time I'm Barossa. This place is a must visit if you're...
Read moreA few issues with this one, all relating to customer service.
Firstly we were put on a cold seat outside, which isn't inherently bad as they were busy. What was the problem, is that when a seat became vacant, another family who came to the restaurant after us were ushered into said seat. This happened an additional time, only fuelling our disappointment. Naturally, we felt quite neglected and forgotten by this.
Without notice from the staff, we came to the realization that there were vacancies by the bar. Well, technically we were informed by the manager when we were about to hand our menus back, but nonetheless we stayed.
It's important to note that the seats we occupied were bar seats, as we were told after a couple minutes to move over in order to sit more potential customers, customers who did not even exist yet. While I understand this, the way this was delivered was more of an order as opposed to an act of customer service/negotiation. As I'm sure you, dear reader, would understand that we would rather not eat right next to people on the bar. A combination of these things led to us taking our business elsewhere.
I will take my final point and highlight that the service I encountered was with the same person who writes the responses to these reviews. If I may ask, read the responses to the rest of these reviews. They are rather defensive and even sarcastic.
In summary, poor service despite an...
Read moreCame here for end of school holidays treat, and treated we were. The food was fantastic and the speed it came it was great. Prices were on point with the amount of food you get. Sure you could feed your family for a lot cheaper at a pub, but the variety of burgers you can expect to pay a bit more. The place is very “instagamable” I wouldn’t say the food is, but that doesn’t matter as long as it taste good, and it hit the mark and that’s all that matters. I think the owners have done well with seating in the small place they have available, but it is a little to cluttered for my liking. They could do with out a lot of the Elvis and Betty boop stuff, but hey if the owners are making extra money out of it, all the best to them. It could have just been me, but the mystery of ordering drink gave a little anxiety as we could see the prices for them anywhere, so a good thing would be to have the prices on the main board behind the counter to elieviate any bill shock.
Overall was good, and we...
