As a top recommendation on Trip Advisor, we booked ourselves for a dinner session tonight to say farewell to a wonderful trip in the Barossa.

On Arrival, we were notified that, due to availability, we would be required to be outside and there was a note on the counter stating bookings were to be placed outside. One of our guests has severe reactions to Mosquitoes bites; as a result, we were hesitant to agree to the proposed seating arrangement, but were advised it was the only availability.

While we were initially understanding of the situation, a number of customers arrived after us and were placed inside whilst we remained outside dealing with the cold and mosquitos.

Following being seated outside we were advised that should we get cold that we can request blankets for warmth.

After ordering our entree and mains, our entrees arrived at separate times. After finishing our first entree, one of the staff tried to clear them after which we queried about our other entree. We were advised by the waitress that it was forgotten and that she would sort it out now.

Between finishing our second entree, we queried on the ETA of our mains and were informed that they would have been called away once our entrees being finished. Given our second entree was forgotten, we were unsure when our mains were sent away but our sitting ended up being 2.5 hours for 2 entrees and 3 mains.

On arrival of our mains, one of the mains was cold and one was undercooked. The main that was undercooked was sent back to be cooked longer and whilst the rest of the table finished their meals, I was still awaiting on mine.

We were looking forward to tasting the dessert menu, but were concerned it would take a further hour to arrive and decided to end our dinner earlier then expected.

Overall this was an unsatisfying experience which was reciprocated by our surrounding tables who similarly had poor service and meal quality. Unless this experience was out of the ordinary, we would not recommend this restaurant to others...

I had booked this in February. We were there last week. I booked this restaurant because I have been there twice and the food is fantastic and the service was great. This time I was disappointed. The waitress we got had no clue! When we asked her questions about the menu, she said she had no idea, but did not go and as anyone. I would have thought she told have had a look at the meals she served, but apparently not . We ordered wine, it had a cork in it. She came to the table and said she did not know how to open it, took it back, then presided to pour a big glass, not waiting for us to taste it. When we stopped her, she seemed annoyed. The bottle was $160 so expensive. We ordered the food and specifically told her that one person was having an entree. We waited and waited but the entree never came and when we asked she said it was coming with the other meals. The person had also ordered a main. We told her to cxl the entree and just serve the mains as one of the meals would be ruined as they were both cooked meals and would get cold. She got really annoyed and sort of disappeared from serving us. The meals were served by another person and she tried to also serve the entree and was surprised when we said it had been cancelled. After finishing our meal we waited for quite some time before we could order dessert . I am sorry, but if you have a completely “green” person perhaps make sure they are supervised. As it was, the experience was somewhat ruined and it was my birthday which I had told them when I booked. The food was fantastic the service very bad. Sad, as I had such great experience the last...

My dining experience at 1918 Bistro & Grill was nothing short of extraordinary. The culinary journey embarked upon in this establishment was a true delight for the senses. The food was an exquisite symphony of flavors, a genuine gastronomic masterpiece that left an indelible mark on my palate. Each dish was meticulously crafted, showcasing not only culinary expertise but also a deep appreciation for quality ingredients.

The presentation of the plates was nothing short of fabulous, a visual feast that complemented the exceptional taste. It's evident that great care is taken not only in the preparation of the dishes but also in their artistic arrangement, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall dining experience.

Absolutely incredible dinner tonight! We were welcomed firstly by a very friendly staff who looked after us the whole night (Brodie) and before we even sat down congratulated us for our 2 year anniversary and a birthday celebration too which was an amazing welcome! Brodie served us and was super kind to us the entire evening and we both walked out and said "Wow he was amazing". He was super kind, suggested a great pair of wines to pair with our dinner, was prompt with providing our utensils, drinks, etc. and overall our pre-eating service was incredible. To top it off the food was incredible, the crispy pork belly was the best pork belly I have ever eaten out at a restauraunt, my partner who does not eat pork belly often due to inconsistencies with chefs/restauraunts said that she wished she orderded it instead of her already incredible eye fillet. Thanks so much to the chefs for a great celebration/anniversary dinner service whilst we are visiting from Adelaide for the week, and especially thanks to Brodie for amazing customer service, he definitely deserves a massive commendment from the team, and hope he keeps providing great service in the future as his passion for the customer service role he is in reflects so kindly and made our night and our leaving after eating memorable! Thanks heaps 11/10!

Divine bistro dining in the heart of the valley. 1918 was a consistent recommendation from locals in the know and I’m very glad I checked it out. Known for its grilled dishes, it didn’t disappoint. My steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were delicious too. The mushroom starter was interesting, a deconstructed mushroom pie. A highlight was service - in a word “fabulous” - Thanks to Adam and Amber who made my experience dining alone an absolute delight. They were even concocting a safe word to rescue me had a dodgy blind date turned up, which wasn’t the case that evening. Good to know they were all in and would have your back should you need them ever ;) The atmosphere was so warm and inviting from the onset. Set in a delightful renovated historic building, the fireplaces were a lovely soothing touch. The details like hearts in rose petals on the tables tells you why it’s such a local date night fav. The wine list focuses on showcasing some of the more boutique local producers and their favourites like the Rockford Basket Press and family producers Rusden. I tried the “blind” red which they offer to challenge the locals on their tasting ability. They squeezed me in which was fabulous, but were busy so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

1918 has captured the Beauty of it’s Township of Tanunda with a Picturesque outdoor area surrounding it’s place of business. This Bistro and Grill boasts of great staff being Jessica whom is in the photo with myself, Charlize and Syd the Manager. Their Chef Andrew is very creative and prepares and serves such succulent meals. On the day there were not any Seafood Platters as described on their Menu so my Girlfriend and myself asked the Manager Syd if Andrew the Chef could possibly put together for us, well he did and our meals were absolutely delicious. Great Smokers nestled underneath a lovely shady tree seating is a Wine Barrel with Stools there are also Games outdoor for young children to play and enjoy on their lawned area. Trust me if anyone is visiting this lovely Enriched township of Tanunda it is most definitely worthwhile taking the time to sit back, relax and enjoy one of their meals. The other photo is of my good Friend Liane and myself.
