I checked out the reviews and menu before visiting, it all looked very positive. To be fair the meal sizes were massive, neither of us came close to finishing. The illuminated wall with the landscape photo of the area is stunning, whoever came up with that had a bloody brilliant idea. Meal quality was really not great, the chef seems to like putting dill in things that should not have dill, it left quite an unpleasant aftertaste. The fish was not good, but the calamari was well cooked. For entertainment there were a few choices. There was the footy up on the TV, you could avail yourself of the Keno facilities, or you could watch a small child projectile vomit more than his own bodyweight of a consistently white substance over a sizeable area of dining room carpet. The bewildered waiting staff seemed unsure of how to tackle such a sizeable puke puddle. What they failed to do however, was to move the table of 4 sitting RIGHT NEXT TO the puke, when many free seats were available by this time. In fact I was amazed at the lack of reaction by everyone else in attendance. Will probably check out somewhere else next time I'm in town. Funny story to take home...
Read moreWe went to the clubhouse several years ago and have never returned because: It was about 1pm Sat when we inquired if lunch was still available, they said yes so we ordered and paid.... and waited for over an hour... In the meantime a tour bus arrived and they took all their orders and served all their meals before us.. when we asked why, they said they had pre booked ( but not ordered their meals) so we asked for our money back and left. How ridiculous. Hopefully the pub has changed hands by now. Whenever I have taken a group on a bus tour I got them to order and pay for their meals and drinks in advance- far quicker and easier for everyone. Maybe the clubhouse should make that a condition for bus groups in future. to the owner- it was the clubhouse, which to us looks like a pub- nothing luxurious, nice but very publike. We definitely got our cash back, but look at the post, it was 2 years previous to this post... and obviously the staff did not report back, we inquired several times until they finally admitted they had served the bus customers before us, whereupon we got...
Read moreJust finished lunch and the experience was regrettably a very poor one. At $40 average per plate, one expects and has experienced better at The Clubhouse before. Order consisted of - MR Porterhouse chef special, M Aged Rump with Dianne sauce, Wagyu Beef Schnitzel with Parmy topping. Total spend, $120+
Issues - meat not rested and blooded, seized and tough leaving blood all over the plates. Inconsistent cooking - the medium was well done on the outer and rare on the inner. Excessive and unnecessary seasoning and garnish. Biting into rocks of salt, coleslaw slathered in so much dill that it tasted like dishwater (no one in the restaurant was eating theirs), and parsley, rosemary, garlic and one can assume horseradish covered everything. None of this disclosed on menu for allergies.
Finally, the dianne sauce was a gelatinous goo best left to the fridge and the charred broccolini, so charred to be burnt beyond nutritional value.
Whatever is going on at the Clubhouse needs to be resolved asap. Food like this cannot continue in the...
