Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since posting this review the owners of the hotel have threatened me and attempted to bully me in order for me to take down this review!
My wife and I stayed here for the night with our newborn twins, whilst on the way to Tenterfield I phoned to enquire on the hotel and was told that the hotel was expected to be full that night so to book quickly. I was told a "discounted" price of $150 due to the restaurant not being open on the Monday night. When we arrived and throughout our stay we were the only occupants at the hotel, definitely not "booked out" not even close!
When you have a terrible stay the bad things stick out!!
Whilst the decor in the rooms were nice, that was the only nice thing about staying in this hotel. Whilst we had numerous issues I spoke with one of the owners the next morning who apologised about the below issues and said we should of been moved immediately to another room and he would arrange for us to be compensated. I advised my credit card details were still held and I was told that he would sort it out. I contacted the hotel a week later after not receiving any compensation that's when more drama's started with "another owner" who is rude and arrogant! Almost a month after our stay We have not been compensated!!
The hot water ran out whilst halfway through my shower after my wife had, had one. We are water conscious of what we use and definitely wouldn't of gone over there "80L" limit to each room.
The heating didn't seem to be working correctly (Was snowing whilst we were there) so we asked the cleaner who was in the hall to have a look at it, she adjusted the settings. A few hours later it still wasn't working and the room was cold. When I complained about it the Manager looked at the settings but didn't change any and said that "it should be right give it a few hours" When I explained that the twins needed to be warm in their cot he suggested draping an electric blanket over the cot which he left for us to fit. Suggesting something so idiotic I knew I was dealing with the village idiot and would be getting no resolution and a cold night was in store. The hotel was completely empty apart from us so moving to another room shouldn't of been a problem!
Whist going to our room carrying luggage and a newborn Twin each we had to navigate through the obstacle course which was the cleaners equipment and cart blocking the entire hallway (PICTURE ATTACHED) not a very safe scenario in the correspondence with the hotel after our stay one of the owners said
"this is not an unusual phenomenon in any hotel. While it is unfortunate that the cleaning equipment was left in the hallway, we do not accept that this created a dangerous situation."
This wasn't from the manager, This was from one of the owners Clearly this shouldn't happen in any hotel and if I or my wife had of tripped on any of the equipment a law suit would have easily been won! Getting in and out of the hotel was a few drama's with having to leave open the back door to get things out of the car.
A motel room in Tenterfield is half the price and next time we're going through Tenterfield we definitely won't be staying here again. It is city prices in a Country town!! Even though the Restaurant was shut it looked expensive and more than you'd...
Read moreBooked 2 nights in Room 7 which faces away from the main street for $250/night.|The hotel is right in town with a carpark behind.|Friendly checkin. Nice art deco throughout.|The room is located on the 1st floor. There is no lift, & no offer of help with luggage.|Our room was quite spacious with a separate alcove for the bed, which is very comfortable & a separate seating area with 2 easy chairs & tv. There's a courtesy tray for tea & coffee & the best biscuits (other than the home made ones we occasionally get) we have ever had. The fridge is quiet (only milk in it.)|The ensuite is small but has a good shower in a stall where the water doesn't leak out & nice toilettries in plunger bottles.|The windows which look toward the mountain & overlook the carpark aren't openable, so you need to use the air con. In any case, it is quiet & works well.|Wifi is fast & can be relied upon.|We ate in the restaurant both nights & thought the food very good-duck breast & beef cheeks the 1st night & we each had Salmon the 2nd night. There's a nice choice of wines & its good to see some local choices. The restaurant has a nice ambiance & the staff very professional & pleasant. It was busy on the Tuesday & Wednesday night we were there.||Our room was very quiet & comfortable & we slept well.||The room was serviced, & used items replaced. Always appreciated.||I chose the hotel to celebrate a special occasion, & overall, I am pleased I did so. The only additional thing I'd like to see is a coffee pod machine in the room. This is due to...
Read moreSo we attempted to book in directly only to be told to use the website. After booking in to the pet friendly accommodation we were charged an extra $25 after the initial book .When I suggested this was deceptive to the owner they stated it was in the site, which it was buried in the terms and conditions. ||Don't understand how you can book a room out as pet friendly then charge an extra cleaning fee?||When we arrived we were informed it was the room that opened up onto the main street , which is also the major highway to Brisbane!! Hardly suitable to take your dog out during the evening or daytime. We attempted to have a discussion about this, only to be dismissed with a stone-faced couple of people. No acknowledgement of our concerns. When I raised the issue of our 5mth GSD needing to be taken out during then night to relieve himself and it wouldn't be okay to do so on the main street, I was told I could walk him around the block to the park at the back of the hotel, about 750 m! ||We need to have the noisy air con all night to have a warm room. We had to go out th efront door an dback into th ehotel to reach reception as the key we were given didn't open the internal door?||Finally ,we were told we had to park in the main street , which meant carrying our items from our car, which was about 25m away into the room, through the door , whilst preventing our dog from running out into the main street. Our car was also keyed whilst parked there at night!!||Wouldn't recommend this !||WE...
