9grams Torquay — Restaurant in Torquay

Customer service is terrible!

Myself and 5 other friends went for breakfast on the last day of 2022, we aren’t from Torquay so we went to 9 grams because a friend recommended the cafe. We waited about an hour for our food witch was fine it was busy but our drinks took over an hour to come out. Mine being a milkshake was bought out last and funny enough it was the milkshake that I walked past 2 times over half an hour to have a smoke were they make there coffee. It was sitting in the sun for half an hour and I knew it was the same one because it had been sitting out for so long that the foam on top had started going yuck. He tried to serve this to me and when I asked if it was the same one that was sitting in the sun for ages and grunted at me and said with a rude tone. “Do u want a new one “ and walked off. Like I didn’t even get to answer him. And then later I went up to the front desk to pay and he was the serving me. I asked to pay for my food only. Witch was pulled pork Benny and a milkshake. And he said no worries u can tap your card. And so I paid and then after I paid he gave me my receipt and I noticed he charged me for everyone’s meals. And all he said was “sorry no split payment”. I understand that some places don’t do split payment but tell me before I pay because I paid 200$ worth of food. I could have gone and sorted that out with my group before paying. So really rude service from him. And my partner was continuously asking the tall blonde girl for her attention because we had been waiting over an hour for drinks and we were missing water. And she kept walking past and ignoring us. We understand that places get really busy sometimes but how I was treated was really disgusting. So 1 star for the staff on the floor. Apart from that bad experience the food was good when we finally got it. So no complaints...

You may have been to one of the other Nine Gram Cafes in areas such as Geelong or Mt Duneed - so you know what a great, modern-organic feel this venue will have.

Located near Torquay Beach, in one of the small shopping areas, you can choose from seating along the path or inside. There is even a groovy booth-couch to sit on, plus the vases with artificial flowers on each table is a nice touch.

Nine Grams is run by two brothers, who are passionate about coffee and healthy food. You will be impressed by the level of excellence they, their chef and staff deliver to each customer, including chats and food recommendations. They opened over a week ago, and their relaxing atmosphere seems to be appealing to locals and tourists alike. They follow COVID-19 restrictions and regulations.

Breakfast Recommendations *Freshly squeezed orange juice *Chilli Eggs - scrambled eggs, with bacon [normally chorizo], pickles, green olives, spinach, sundried tomatoes, fresh herbs/chilli and tomato salsa on buttered sourdough bread - tasty with a kick, yet light and a great start to the day. *Coffee - Veneziano - nice and strong- long black.

Drop-in for a meal or grab a coffee to enjoy on your morning walk - you won't be disappointed! It's as simple as that!

Disappointing is the best word to sum up our experience at 9 Grams today. It started when the waiter brought a coffee to my friend stating it was a strong latte, she took a sip from it and then the waiter realised it was in fact my other friends oat latte. Instead of taking it away and making her a new oat latte he picked it up and dumped the already drank from coffee in front of her. Then I received the baked eggs, which unfortunately were not baked at all, the egg was raw. I raised this with the manager who took them away and offered to remake it however I had lost my appetite. He insisted that I should have something else and that he would not charge me so I decided on an almond croissant which to my displeasure was microwaved and was so hot that it burnt the inside of my mouth. Then when we were trying to pay at the counter a waitress rudely pushed my friend out of the way so she could collect some coffees. There are so many better options in the area and I am so surprised that this established has managed to remain open if this is the experience they are providing their customers.
