Tempting tastes torquay — Restaurant in Torquay

JUST DONT: I was shocked to see this restaurant boasting a 4.9-star rating on Google Reviews. Honestly, it was one of the worst meals I've had in a very long time. The sand-covered apple slice my child shoved in my mouth this morning tasted more like actual food than anything served here.

My chicken dish was inexplicably hot—dangerously hot. The temperature was completely out of proportion to the sauce, vegetables, and rice. I'm almost certain the chicken was microwaved to reach that temperature, otherwise, it would have burned to a crisp in a wok.

It seems the 4.9-star rating is a result of a poster inside the restaurant encouraging 5-star reviews in exchange for a 10% discount. This incentivizes inflated ratings and feels like a scam.

While I don't usually write negative reviews, the price point doesn't justify this poor quality. This is daylight robbery. Torquay has many excellent restaurants; this is definitely not...

Ate the best stir fry veggies and tofu in a slightly spicy satay sauce I’ve ever had, with special fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The batter was crispy, the pork very tender in a classic sauce. The staff are very polite and attentive. Will definitely be back soon to try other items on the menu. Came back on Sunday 13 July 2025 and had sizzling Cantonese beef with steamed broccoli (asked for the beef to be sliced thinly and for the broccoli to be soft) and honey chicken. Stumbled across this place during the day and there were quite a few people eating and lots of pick ups. Decided to book in the family for dinner. We were very happy with our meal. We were all well fed with food that was out to the table quickly and tasted great. We all like different things and this was catered for. An inexpensive night out for the 5 of us.
