After walking up and down The Esplanade and then down a cute side street in search of a good pizza that we could take back to our hotel, hubby and i decided on Italo's Wood Fired Pizza, which looked and sounded authentic. Hubby ordered the Volcano pizza ($21) and i ordered the Capriciosa ($22). Upon returning to our hotel and opening our pizza boxes, we were both horrified to find that there was hardly any topping on each of our pizzas. Mine had maybe 1 whole mushroom distributed over the entire pizza, a couple of pieces of ham and maybe 4 olives. The cheese used wasnt melted properly and tasted like plastic. Hubby's pizza also lacked substance, with only a few pieces of salami, a few slithers of capsicum and 5 or 6 olives. It certainly did NOT live up to its name of The Volcano, barely tickling the tastebuds, let alone offering the hot experience promised. The service wasnt too bad from 1 staff member but once we'd decided on our pizzas and were ready to order, the woman taking the order had no sense of urgency and seemed confused when we explained we were ordering takeaway. There were maybe 2 other couples in the restaurant at the time, so they were hardly rushed off their feet. Overall, an EXTREMELY disappointing pizza experience, and, having never left a food review before, if we can save others the disappointment of ordering poor quality pizzas, at least something good can come...
Read moreI waited for a while and no waiter provided a menu so I went to the counter and ordered. Every other customer who came after me was given a menu as soon as they entered the premises. The waitress also took their order at their table. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Management should seriously solve their customer service issues. The basic thing when a customer is going to dine in your restaurant is to show them their table and provide them a menu as soon as they are at the table. If the waitresses are busy at least they should let the customer know that they'll come to take their order as soon as possible.
Food is extremely overpriced considering the quality.
Proscuitto pizza was alright (2 out of 5 stars). Pasta with creamy bacon and mushroom sauce was terrible. It was extremely bland (0 out of 5 stars). Bruschetta bread was not too bad. The only good thing was the bread. (1 out...
Read moreTerrible service.
Its very difficult to give this place a review because we recieved almost no service.
After making a booking and arriving for dinner, the restaurant seemed quiet and inviting however after being seated and perusing the menu, we were ignored for 25 minutes while the two waiting staff socialised, cleaned glasses and took orders for other tables.
I am normally not one to complain or leave bad reviews but to be forgotten about as a customer on a quiet night is horrible service.
A table of 3 arrived 10 minutes after us and recieved their food before we were even able to order drinks. We were shocked by the lack of basic service and decided to leave.
Even after to speaking to the staff they did not seem sympathetic or apologetic. He even seemed happy we were leaving.
It is a shame as the food looked and smelled delicious. We will not be returning...
