What started off really well ended in a bit of a funk.
We arrived early for a booking and ordered some cocktails and oysters. The oysters were delicious, we had the passion fruit gell, and the wakame and soy. They were fresh, tasty, perfectly flavoured. The cocktails were tasty too.
Next was pumpkin, feta and thyme arancini and salt and pepper squid. The arancini, delicious. Well seasoned, matched with great flavors. The squid was cooked well, tender but the salt and pepper was almost missing, like the chef forgot it all together. They were really underwhelming. We had some aperol spritz with our entrees and they were ok, light on the aperol and heavy on a pretty dry prosecco.
Next, we waited. A long time. Around 50 minutes, maybe longer. In this time we weren't offered water, any drinks and were left with our empty plates for a long time. We enjoyed the view but it was clear our order probably was lost in a line or pushed for bigger tables or something. Had we been offered beverages, we probably wouldn't have minded but we watched staff meandering around the venue, picking up a few glasses from unattended tables and slowly cleaning but ignoring us.
When the meals finally came, there were no apologies. The spice crusted barramundi was pretty tasty, the cauliflower cream and peas quite a good match. The seafood hotpot seemingly succumbed to the same fate as the squid, missing flavour. The broth was ok but missing the punch I expected from a hotpot. Not a lot of seasoning, lacking and the noodles were a bit overcooked. The seafood was in a reasonably generous proportion and cooked well but the dish was a let down.
We didn't finish our meals and got up to pay. No one asked us our thoughts on the meal or offered anything else. Had the service been on to it, I would have offered the feedback and skipped this review.
I'd potentially go back for a cocktail and oysters and maybe try their seafood platter, they seem to know seafood pretty well. I won't venture the menu again though, that's a waste of time and money in my opinion. Don't expect good service and...
