Noodle Bento Victor Harbor — Restaurant in Victor Harbor

Ordered here a few times, so this isn’t a one off rave.

A few months ago we ordered honey chicken and S&S pork … not amazing, very dry, very bland. Waited nearly an hour and were the only customers in the shop. Young boy running around, which we don’t mind, however, surely that’s bad for business for customers that are not in the headspace to be asked a million and one questions and expected to “play”. It is the owners child and he will want the attention of all the customers, cute but tad annoying.. no offence.

Today’s order: Honey King Prawn and Honey Chicken.

Honey chicken had almost no thickness to the batter. Honey King prawn had wayyy too much batter… also king prawn? Looked like a small version of regular cooked / frozen / peeled prawns… smaller than my pinky and I have small fingers! The prawns still had their takes on, which is annoying as I want to put the whole thing in my mouth… also the poo vein was not removed and one of the prawns were congested…. Also the batter was just falling off of the prawns anyway. Why is the rice so plain! Why not make it special fried rice and if someone wants plain they can request it… I hate plain rice. I don’t want to order another tub of special fried rice, to not eat it all when all I want is a serve and then have it sit in the fridge and I not get through it all.

Sushi was amazing. No complaints.

The shop is very small. Drink Refrigerator is un-accessible by customers if people are dining in.. we were unable to buy a drink today as the door was blocked by two people awaiting their take-away. Sorted infront of the drinks fridge. Poor special awareness / terrible design.

We need a real authentic super fresh. Made with love Chinese restaurant. This is good, for the only option, however, if competition arose…. Only a matter of time….

Siam seaside -Thai is the next best alternative. Wish we had more East Asian / Chinese cultural cuisines available in this busy...

Easily our favourite Asian takeaway on the Fleurieu. Consistent quality and fantastic value...

Edited 20/10/22: it's with a heavy heart that I come back to correct this review. They've changed hands recently and our first impression has not been good. Excessive wait times, flavourless mains, 'fried' rice that seems to be straight from the rice cooker with an abundance of pepper without a hint of any salt.

I had lemon chicken and my wife had teriyaki beef. The lemon sauce was fine, but the chicken was overcooked and gluggy. It doesn't have the crispy, fried finish we were used to. The sauce drowns it out. The wife's beef was wholly flavourless. No seasoning or marinade to speak of. In both cases the rice was stodgy, clumpy and tasted of nothing but pepper.

I hope the new owners find their feet, but we won't be back for...

We didn't have any expectations and just walked in. After ordering we here told ONLY CASH In a sharp voice (first red flag) really? Who only deals in cash in 2022 my childish brain though while handing over the cash. We sat in a clean area with basic and functional table and chairs and some fried food came out quickly followed by the two mains and a kids meal came out next and presented nicely. Taste was bland in the Combo noodle with three meats dish and it was a different tasting Lemon chicken dish with a fruity flavor but not in a great way. We don't leave a lot of feedback and do realize that it's a cheap feed (sort of) but hope to help others.
