Bacchus Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Victoria

We've always felt unwelcome in this restaurant but liked the food. We haven't visited for a while but thought tonight we'd give it another go, in the hope that the service had improved. When we arrived at just after 7pm, the sign out the front said Now Open. We asked if we could have a table for two and we're told there was no room and they couldn't split the tables set for 4 people. The restaurant only had one other couple inside. It would seat 40+. When we expressed surprise, the waitress said she was too busy!!! Don't know how they stay in business. The staff clearly need customer service training. Won't be giving them another try. Excellent Thai restaurant! The food is really fantastic. I found the food there even better than in Thailand itself! I go there every week. The owner Eck is a wonderful guy and an excellent chef! No need to worry crowds as they mostly do take away. But book just in case. I love to go to Bacchus Thai! We have been going there for 5 years every Friday night and sometimes during the week. We got take away when passing through on the way to a friend’s house in the Marsh. Chicken balls were 🤮, manufactured indecipherable substance, spring rolls were just ok. The best thing about our meal was the steamed rice and green curry, both were OK . Beef salad was dreadful, beef was tough, but the veggies were ok. I’m sorry, but for the amount spent, we could have made it home much better. Sorry, nowhere near authentic Thai, we won’t be back!...
