Black Pearl — Restaurant in Victoria

Unfortunately after my experience there today I will not be returning. I can't comment on the quality of the food, because I never actually received my order!! After patiently waiting at the table for more than half an hour, at a time well past the typical lunchtime rush hours, I was finally approached & asked "what my order was again?" When I said what it was, I was told that I would have to change my order, because they didn't have any left. During this time the so-called 'chef' twice came out the front and loudly berated the staff in front of the customers in the cafe. The staff were being quite polite & helpful, and did not deserve the dressing down that they received. They were visibly anxious & rattled after he spoke to them. Due to an appointment I couldn't wait any longer for my food so just asked for a refund instead. The girls apologised sincerely and were happy to refund but, to top off this 'delightful' experience, there is still no sign of the money in my account! Don't...

Initially thought we were settling in for a comfortable lunch at the Back Pearl Fish Cafe........ordered and just started on our drinks and then the ranting started. Shocked we looked around to see what was happening and it was the owner/manager ranting and raving at a very young staff member over something or other that wasn't clear. Not a smart move for a small business to allow the public to witness what appeared to be a clear case of bullying. Anyway that incident detracted from any positives that the place may have had like the pleasantness of the young staff. So no chance of a return visit from us........or I suspect many others who were witness to this nonsense...

The new owners need to read there reviews. They are not good i for one was there today 17th nov. Got my coffee finished my coffee and still no sign of our toasted sandwiches. We waited half an hour so we had to say something to the staff. She went to look in the toaster and there was our burnt sandwiches she said you dont want them do you i said no we waited half an hour we will have our money back please and then we left. It's not the first time this has happened we have had to wait for toasted sandwiches before We will be giving black pearl a miss...
