I want to start by commending the staff and their friendliness. This review has more to do so with the food and the manager than the staff who served us.
My partner and I attended Blind Freddy's Cafe this morning. Both starving as we wanted to eat out and support a local, we ordered an Eggs Benedict ($21) and an Eggs Florentine ($18) as well as a Chai Latte on almond milk (unsure of price, it was delicious though) This was our first time at the Cafe.
After ordering, we received our food within 10 mins. In hindsight I wish I took photos of the meals. With a traditional Eggs Benedict/Florentine there is (usually) two servings of egg placed on top of a quality bread (or muffins) and delicious toppings on top with their Hollandaise sauce. We have had plenty of these meals and this is how it is EVERYWHERE.
So to recap 2 eggs, 2 slices of muffin/sourdough, bacon/ham/salmon, sauce on top.
For some reason. our plates had one slice of toast with two eggs on top and a whole lot of sauce.
Realising what I had just paid and what was served, I approached the staff and asked for the manager.
After having him look at our meal, he was unsure why we were frustrated.
Whilst he offered us extra bread, we declined and instead, asked for a refund which was given after some hesitation. The meals were un-eaten and un-touched.
Going by the negative reviews here commenting on the size of the meals and their prices, I can see that the manager there is disingenuous. I say this as I was told something different when I asked to be given a refund. The manager stated (on verbatim) no one has a problem with the size of the meals and he saw no issue with two eggs being on top of one slice of bread.
May I add, the bread looked like it came from the sliced bread sections of your local store.
We do wish you guys all the best however, you may want to actually read people's reviews and listen to your...
Read moreTook my mum for a late breakfast here today, coffee, juice and a bottle of water came out promptly as did our meals (2pm is a quiet time, only 4 others in the cafe). I had ordered the breakfast with scramble, bacon (I asked for well cooked but not burnt), mushrooms and grilled tomato. Unfortunately as soon as l saw the scramble I could see it was rubbery and drrrrryyyy, they looked to have been cooked in a microwave or double boiler (yes lm a chef) they had to have been the worst eggs I have paid for, no seasoning and dry as a fart! The “well cooked” bacon was barely waved over the grill. My mother’s poached egg was “snotty” and on the border of undercooked but she didn’t want to fuss and l wasn’t in the mood. I don’t like to leave a bad review, l know they can hurt. l usually tip and leave great reviews when deserved. I’m sorry to have to say it! Maybe an off day or they were closing in a few hours. The coffee was great, juice nicely chilled, toast crisp, service was friendly and welcoming unfortunately the food...
Read moreThe staff were really friendly and welcoming. The environment felt really relaxing and interesting only thing i didn't like was how the ceiling is open as I feel it breaks away from there old style. Eggs Benedict beautifully made I feel it had the right amount flavour and they didn't over do it not completely sure what the butter was there for as I'm not pulling ingredients off bread to butter it other then that really nice. Pancakes I really liked them nice and fluffy great thickness only with it is needs a bit more syrup that's just me being picky though it was still amazing. Lemonade spider great drink but not any different to any other spider I've had. Cookie beautiful made I feel you should add an option though of heating it cause I would of like try it with melted chocolate still really good though.
Definitely recommend found it hard to bad stuff. But really impressed with the staff keep up...
