It's with some regret that I have to change this review from the original 5 stars. When it first opened this place was the same high standard as other Deganis I've visited. There was a guy there who was either manager or staff trainer or something who set up a strong culture, it seemed.
However the last few months, post lockdown really, it's gone downhill considerably. Yesterday was the last straw. No mask on the barista, not even a poorly fitted one, just none. Coffee made sloppily, barista throwing equipment around the bench. Three guys outside smoking as I arrived, all three apparently staff, only one washed their hands and only one put on a mask fully.
Never ceases to amaze me how many food preparation facilities are so willing to show their disregard for health regulations, like masks, that literally cost them nothing. Makes you wonder how seriously they take the ones that do cost them to implement and maintain.
On balance, I will probably not return. But then again, if I apply this same rule to every coffee place without masks right now, I may never have...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting. The kitchen is gross. Couldnt believe it. So.. My son had passed away a few weeks prior to this & I finally got convinced to leave my house and go eat out with my Dad. We sat down & Ordered food. Waited well over half and hour & still no food was brought to us. I heard a yell of pain, looked behind me and all of the other workers were just standing there looking on the ground (behind a little wall) at their friend (who had just been electrocuted) (I didn't know at the time)so i ran over to them & the chef was on the ground, I call an ambo (because no one else was), and i put this man on his side all by myself and i followed what the lady was telling me to do. The second I called the ambulance all of the other workers left his friend and took off. Literally. And left me with this unconscious body. Not sure if they didn't have visas to be here or what but I...
Read moreVery pleasantly surprised with this place. The food wasn't perfect, the eggs were reasonable while lacking some liveliness and the pasta was slightly overcooked, but the pasta (pollo fungi) was gobsmackingly delicious anyway. The coffee was also remarkable. The menu as a whole is something that most Aussies would find appealing, I felt like a kid in a lolly shop when looking through the menu.
The decore is pleasant enough with just enough low-level noise coming from the coffee machine and kitchen to add life without being annoying at all. It's definitely a bit cramped, but they have really done a good job disguising that fact with a smart layout and use of mirrors.
The staff were incredibly good, with good honest-feeling smiles, bringing out a high chair and even colouring-in pictures and pencils for my son which...
