I do not leave too many bad reviews as I have a small business myself, but I actually left this restaurant feeling sad. We were so excited to go and eat there. We saw it walking past the night before and decided to come back in the morning. The place has such a cute aesthetic and the menu looked awesome! However, we were so disappointed. The people, who I think were the owners, were so rude and unwelcoming. We sat down and hoped it would improve, but it didn’t at all. It felt like they didn’t want us there at all. We tried to order our drinks while we decided on our food and they just snapped at us that “the till doesn’t work that way”. The server was so grumpy, he just didn’t wanna be there. As we finished, they cleared plate by plate as soon as someone finished, without even making eye contact, asking if we were done, or waiting for everyone to be finished. The waffles were so hard and over cooked, it was hard to get your knife through, yet they were also cold. I ordered a waffle with “sliced banana” on it, but it was mostly banana chips, which were obviously hard and you couldn’t put your fork in them. We were so upset to be spending quite a bit of money for breakfast for five to be treated like that and to not even have a good meal. It was awful. The man snapped “see ya again” at us as we left, without even looking up and no one else even acknowledged us. For a place with waffles in their name, they might want to work on the waffles they serve. Or even maybe just be slightly nice to customers? I thought maybe they might just have been having a rough day, but reading through the other reviews I can see I’m not alone, which makes me feel a tiny bit better that it wasn’t just us or something we did. Sadly, for a place with so much potential, the follow through just...

I made a mistake coming to this place with my family visiting from overseas. The outside has a nice vibe and decor which is what drew us in, but we quickly realised why it was so quiet. Unfortunately this looks like a place that used to have a lot of life, character and great food but has possibly been taken over by new management. Minimal level of service when we came in, a new food menu on A4 paper was slapped on top of the original chalk board menu with big crosses across original menu items, and the food was EXPENSIVE for what you were getting (dhal and some naan and yoghurt for $28?!), and there was literally no level of quality or care in the dishes. Sandwiches were slapped together without much effort or uniqueness (literally a sandwich I would throw together in my own kitchen for a quick lunch with store bought items) and any form of scrambled eggs were bland and cooked to a very strange texture. The waffles need to be mentioned given the restaurant name - they resembled some form of spongy soggy cake and came with terrible fake maple syrup. It’s a shame that this place, which what appears like it used to be the life of Cowes central area has been ripped of its soul. I had no issues with management and did not have any disputes with staff, but needed to share my thoughts on such a disappointing experience.

I would also be wary of new 5 star reviews, various google reviews which don’t appear to have rated any other places other than this and Fig and Olive which is...

Sadly, this was a terrible experience. The place looked super cute from across the road, so we headed over. There was one menu posted on the outside, which lured 11 of us inside, only to be given a different (smaller) menu - the outside menu was no longer valid. Fine, we could make do with the new menu. Lined up to order, it took forever thanks to staff who didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Paid for the very expensive food before we received it - when the food finally came (and what an ordeal that was), I understood why they took money first. Never in my life have I left 90% of my food on the plate at a restaurant. I ordered the smashed avocado and it was truly shocking. Wet, vinegary avocado, four mushrooms, and a burnt slab of egg that was supposed to be the scrambled eggs the menu promised. The meal was completely inedible. For $28, I was expecting much better. Two others in my group also ordered the smashed avocado and didn’t finish it.

My husband had the berry waffles and said they were chewy. He did say the flavour was good, however.

The staff got three of our orders wrong, took way too long to bring everything out, and had to ask multiple times what we were waiting on. Our table wasn’t alone - everyone in there had the same experience. The staff seemed to have absolutely no idea what was happening.

The staff were, however, friendly. That’s the only positive thing I have to say…I’m truly upset that we spent so much money on something so...

Came here over the long weekend, the long hair girl at the register was rude and grumpy, I asked for a dairy free scrambled egg because of my son’s allergy and she said she can’t do that because the egg is premixed. For over $$ price you would think the meals are made from scratch. I asked if I can just order hash browns and bacons and she said you can’t do that they have nothing on the menu so I asked if she can suggest any meal they have that is dairy free and I’m happy to pay then suddenly she made it work for me to order hash brown and bacons. She then snapped at a waiter in front of customers which is very unprofessional but it didn’t stop with there. After we finished our meal the chef was screaming in the kitchen scaring all the kids that heard the man’s tantrum. The place itself has lovely set up, the short hair lady that made coffee was very friendly but food was mediocre at best The waffles were soggy, scrambled egg was watery, mushroom was so thinly cut there’s hardly any there, pancakes were tiny and not fluffy. The smoked salmon jaffle was probably the best out of all our meals which technically not a jaffle it’s toasted Turkish bread. We won’t be back.

We came here two years ago and recalled how much we enjoyed our breakfast and their coffee, but unfortunately, we can't say the same thing about our recent visit. We ordered the Smashed avocado in Turkish bread ($28) and their special - Indian breakfast ($28). While I enjoyed my smashed avo, as the portion was perfect, with the right ratio of avo to bread, we were shocked by the Indian breakfast. For the amount of dal that was served, and for that price, you would expect at least two rotis, but we only got one, and it was definitely not enough. And since my partner had to have the remaining dal without bread, the staff had to run around to find us a spoon, as they didn't have one readily available. He was very disappointed by the order, especially as it was overpriced and had nothing to do with a proper dal breakfast. You should stick to the breakfast options on the main menu, as they do a better job with them. Overpriced, and they no longer serve organic coffee, as the one they served us was terrible, so it's best to stick to tea and their other hot/cold drinks.

There is a lot to say about this place and unfortunately it's mostly negative. Firstly It's very expensive. $28 for scrambled eggs or mushrooms and poached eggs.. Secondly...Poor service. No variations n the menu because "they are too busy" Well they certainly wernt busy setting tables or seating people or taking orders or asking people how their food was.... or washing their dirty clothes... All I wanted was scrambled eggs on toast which was on the menu with truffle oil and salmon. Not too hard you would think just to leave these items off the dish but NO Variations. The dish turned up with the eggs and salmon and a MEDLEY of assorted cold vegetables. Who serves scrambled eggs with RAW carrot and Zucchini?????? Well the Truffle oil was so over powering that it spoilt the whole taste of the meal. Mind you, give the chef credit, I would never have tried raw carrot and truffle oil if I hadn't been to this place. Maybe it's time for a new chef? My advice go somewhere else that's cheaper and where you can get edible food and proper service.
