Geelong RSL — Restaurant in Victoria

Today we visited the RSL in Geelong on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The service was impressively fast, especially considering how busy the evening was. Meals came out promptly, and the staff remained friendly and efficient throughout the night. One fantastic bonus is their “Kids Eat Free” offer for children under 12, which is a great incentive for families and definitely made the night more affordable.

The food was excellent—generous portions, well-cooked, and clearly made with care. Whether you're after classic pub fare or something a bit more refined, the menu caters to a wide range of tastes. The overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a good mix of patrons and a comfortable layout that didn’t feel overly crowded.

That said, the kids' game area was underwhelming. It’s quite small and very limited in what it offers. For a venue aiming to attract families, this space could definitely use a revamp. Investing in a more engaging and spacious kids' zone would not only enhance the experience for young ones but also encourage more families to return. A larger, better-equipped area would make dining more relaxing for parents and more fun for children.

Overall, RSL Geelong delivers great value, excellent service, and quality meals in a relaxed setting. With a few improvements to the children’s area, it could become a top choice for family dining in the region. We’ll definitely be back—but hope to see some...

Unfortunately the meals that we ordered we're not up to standard this is the first time we have gone out in a year and when spending over $100 for three people you would expect the lace but to have a meal that you could enjoy the meals come out cold the only thing that I could say about the steak that was ordered well that their mushroom sauce is absolutely beautiful but apart from that it wasn't that great at all the spaghetti bolognese was a good serving size for the price but didn't come with any dinner rolls eccetera actually we were presented with any dinner rolls at all there was also alcohol in our water as the judge was not clean properly you could taste beer in the jug of water not to mention the fact that my little sister drunk two cups of water before realising as we had soft drink mind you she is only a child so we weren't very happy with this outcome and didn't even get an apology I would highly appreciate if the restaurant could get back to me regarding this our reservation was for seven 10 and it was for Simone if you could get back to us as soon as possible regarding the alcohol being in the water and the meals being under standard I would highly appreciate that considering it with my mom's birthday we were very disappointed but on the upside the lady that took out orders was very nice and the cake was bought out on...

This was a family 'go to' for many years, boasting good service, excellent value for money and a genuinely warm and respectful environment that honoured the legacy of our soldiers. That said, sadly... times have changed since those days. The service is still quite good, but the meals are overpriced and I really can't share anything positive about the quality either. Either over- or under-cooked, too oily or too dry, lack of seasoning and lack-lustred presentation. Honestly, if they still boasted affordable prices this might be overlooked. But that's definitely not the case. The venue used to have a "no collar, no entry" and "neat respectful casual dress" code. Not any more. Patrons wearing torn jeans, t-shirts, even torn denim miniskirts were on show (for 60+ patrons to view, whether they want to or not). The place was incredibly noisy to the point that people couldn't hear each other while sitting on the other side of the table. These are very different times... sighs. If you're a drinker, a gambler, happy to part with at least $40 for a very average meal, in a very loud open restaurant space accompanied by poorly dressed patrons contrary to the true values and tenants of the RSL... then knock...
