Sushi & Dumpling House — Restaurant in Victoria

Have now been here twice and will definitely go back again.

Service is always lovely, food is delicious and prices are acceptable.

The do lose a point from 5 star to 4 star because the first time I went I ordered a dish gluten free. They went to the kitchen and confirmed if it could be done. They came back and said they could change it and make it gluten free. So in was extremely happy and instantly this place became my favourite Japanese restaurant in the Geelong region. However, when it arrived I had my suspicions, so I did not eat it and waited for the waiter to serve me again. I then asked for them to just double check one more time to confirm it definitely was gluten free, they checked with the chef and then rushed back out to grab the dish off the table saying there was a mistake.

Now, being coeliac for over 10 years I am very aware of this happening a fair bit, and that is why I always have to double and triple check. And they were very apologetic, as I did make a big deal about it. But I am prepared to give them a second chance and that is why I have since been back again and the second time I had no issues at all.

So I will continue to go back again, but have had to subtract a star from 5 to 4 due to that mistake.

But if you love your Japanese then you will like this place, menu is extensive and they will go out of there way to help you out...

Avoid, avoid avoid. Give your money to another business who will appreciate it!!!! We are local, trying to support local but this was the last straw for average quality on other trips but this was horrible. Ordered vegetable tempura for a main, $15.00 and what came out was a plate of sweet potato and potatoes, no other vegetables, not one! When I brought it up, and said shouldn’t there be other vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini maybe carrot or mushrooms, like the PHOTO in the menu, she said that’s they way they do it. I politely said, that’s $15.00 of potatoes, if we wanted potato cakes you get them at the fish and chips shop, and I just said, we didn’t want them, take it off the bill, we will finish our other food. At the counter when paying, I politely said, you just need to be careful that your photos represent what you are serving as that was not normal. She told me to go to another restaurant! To which I said, we certainly will next time!!!!!! All the had to do was apologise and say a mistake was made and make vegetable tempura like the menu photo, not tell someone that’s how they make it, a plate of sweet potato and...

Its always so peaceful to dine in at and food is very consistent which is great. Eating in you can order on your phone from a table QR Code and a robot cat delivers. The portions are usually large enough to share which is amazing considering the reasonable to cheap prices. I love the Dumplings and Singapore noodles and my kids are big sushi fans. We often go with my dad who tries something different every time and has really enjoyed each meal he has tried so far, with enough left over to take home and get a second meal out of! My youngest child is very excited when the robot cat delivers the food too. The decor is older and very simple but I think it adds to the laid back and quiet atmosphere.
