Grainery Lane — Restaurant in Victoria

My partner and I came here on a whim for a date, and can not recommend them highly enough after having done so. The atmosphere was like stepping into the past, with a delightfully charming and decadently presented 1890's-1920's theme. Some real passion has gone into the choices of décor and it pays off well. On arriving, we were promptly greeted by Brady, who was a delightful and friendly person, and helpfully directed us to some of the venue's standout menu options. Our server, Tom, was also very attentive and friendly, happy to answer our questions about dishes and to accommodate some of our dietary preferences. We tried a wide variety of food and drinks, and most of it was amongst the best examples of each dish we have ever had. Everything was also excellently presented, and there were quite a few unique, in house recipes on offer. Interestingly, the high quality of the food was not reflected in the price, with everything on the menu being very affordable. This said, the drinks are substantially more expensive - but having tried some, we are confident in saying that you get value for money as the alcoholic drinks are quite strong without compromising on the flavour, and one or maybe two drinks should satisfy most people. Although we didn't try any mocktails, we were happy to know they were available. The evening was capped off most excellently by the desserts, and as with everything they were expertly plated and beautifully presented. The ice cream for adults (gin infused) was some of the best ice cream we have ever had, with the gin in no way overpowering any of the flavours present. We very much look forward to coming back...

The space is thoughtfully decorated, with warm lighting, sleek furniture, and tasteful touches that make it feel both trendy and comfortable.

The food at Grainery Lane is absolutely delicious. We had the Triple-Fried Chicken, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The Veggie Green Curry was a highlight too—rich, aromatic, and full of fresh vegetables that balanced the spices beautifully. The Crispy Chicken was another standout dish—crunchy, juicy, and perfectly paired with a flavorful dipping sauce. Each dish was expertly prepared and left us wanting more.

The beer selection is equally impressive, offering a variety of craft brews that cater to different tastes. Whether you prefer hoppy IPAs, smooth lagers, or something a little more experimental, there’s something for everyone.

What really sets Grainery Lane apart, however, is the staff. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Their recommendations were spot on, and their enthusiasm for the food and drinks made the experience even more enjoyable.

We had the most wonderful 60th birthday event recently in The Parlor at Grainery Lane, with a banquet dinner for 38.

We chose this venue for the atmosphere and everything about the evening exceeded our expectations. The planning with Kelly was amazing - she totally got the type of event we wanted and made it happen in a relaxed and supportive way. The room setup, including placement of our additional birthday embellishments, was spot on. The food was amazing and plentiful with really great options for the various dietary needs of our guests. And the additional food requests from us woven seamlessly into the event. The cocktails, and mocktails, were great fun, expertly prepped, served with flair on the night and enjoyed by everyone. And the service on the night was beyond outstanding - so many comments from our guests on how well looked after they were, all night. All of our friends and family had a fun, relaxed and special evening, as we partied til 1am!

We also really enjoyed dinner at Aunty Jacks the night before - also arranged by Kelly – a relaxed start to a special birthday weekend in Ballarat.
