Hepburn Pizza — Restaurant in Victoria

We ventured back to the Hepburn Pizza again last weekend and it was an even better experience than our previous visit. This time, as well as the delicious Capricciosa, Potato & Camembert and Hawaiian Pizzas, we also tried the Pear & Walnut Salad and weren’t disappointed. It was a very generous serving and the kids said it was the best salad they had ever had. For dessert, we shared a Nutella Pizza, a Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse. All three desserts were delightful, but the Tiramisu (made by the owner’s mother) was particularly rich and flavoursome. There was an excellent selection of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and all the prices were very reasonable. The staff were most accommodating and the entire restaurant was spotless. Parking is also a breeze. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Well, that was a treat and a half! We visited this establishment last weekend with two of our grand-children and it was fantastic. We received a very friendly welcome, were escorted to our well-presented table and offered pre-dinner drinks immediately. The menu contained plenty of options for all. We settled on a Capricciosa and a Garlic & Chilli Prawns pizza and the kids had a New York Style pizza and a Garlic Cream Focaccia. All four dishes were delicious, cooked to perfection. The kids, who enjoyed the friendly staff, decided to also try the Tiramisu and Nutella Pizza, which they loved (the owner’s mother makes the Tiramisu!). Both the drinks and food were very reasonably priced and the restaurant was spotless. A most enjoyable visit and yes, we’ll be back...

If you are anywhere near Daylesford/Hepburn Springs and the like Pizza (Truly Italian style authentic Pizza) then you must make your way to Hepburn Pizza. As a former Senior Australian Diplomat with my last posting being Milano I can assure you from experience, Chris knows how to make an Italian Pizza! Simple, perfect crust - thin base, bubbly around the edges - with a little char.. and traditional styles as the Neapolitan's would insist... I chose Prosciutto with Rucola. Perfect! And we had a pear and rocket salad, a glass of red and a Panna Cotta dessert. (all as a special for 2 people and cheap!). I live just down the road from Hepburn Pizza and feel like an idiot for not trying it sooner... Look, it's not an old school pizzeria looking place - even though it is smack in the middle of an area founded and populated by Swiss/Italian immigrants. It's in a new shop in a set of other new shops on the main st in Hepburn Springs. You can sit outside and enjoy the tranquility of Hepburn Springs un bothered by cars zooming past and parking hassles - it's quiet and unassuming. But! the food! I was completely taken by surprise. And Chris the owner and chef has really done his homework. The staff are still finding their feet but were very nice, helpful and eager to please. I couldn't help but go in and congratulate Chris on food - very very well done. You know I thought D.O.C. in Carlton was the best outside of italy but I think they have competition! Now this is a destination to come to. Tristan, owner and head pizza maker has got a winning formula here and all other cafes and restaurants should take note. His passion and desire to cook and deliver fabulous food is something that is unfortunately not shared by all other venues in the Daylesford/Hepburn Springs area. I cannot fault his food, simply scrumptious. Good food, good service and good value for money. All reviews of the business are positive and that is a rarity in this day and age.
