From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. Zain the Director was incredibly polite, helpful and on-top of things. The WiFi wasn’t working well one evening so Zain worked on fixing it, and even shared his personal hotspot so I could connect while it was restoring the connection. He also knew the area well and provided a good itinerary of other things to do - they have a map which is helpful but given how small Daylesford is, you can go without the map as there are few roads and many signs showing the main attractions:||Location: shopping, Lake Walk, Boathouse Cafe, Chocolate Mill or Mini Golf (we did all that in one day with time to spare) and Hepburn Springs are all walking distance or a few min drive away. The motel is close to everything and is walking distance to a general store- which is pricy but convenient.||Motel:|There are 2 large and comfortable lounges to hang out or play in, along with a pool table, Fireplace, shared Kitchen Facility and board games. They are kept toasty warm in the evenings and during the day the windows are open so it does not dry out or get too stuffy from the electrical panel heaters. We came over Grandfinal Longweekend and met Ashlee and Tracy and Doug, who work at the motel and make the guests feel at home. They were super nice, especially Ashlee who loves kids and spent some time entertaining our 5 year old and showing her a few things in the lounges.||Room: We had a double and single bed in our room and it was large enough for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a fridge and tea/coffee ammenities and a kettle as well as plenty of spots to hang swimming stuff/towels and jackets. We had just come from the Hepburn Springs Spa on a chilly day and found the room heated up quite fast. The only negative was the 2 faucets (hot/cold water) while quaint, wastes water and the taps themselves are not easy to turn so you can reduce the water usage. With a few minor upgrades this is a 5 star place.||The continental breakfast was ready well before 8am and was well stocked - the only drawback was some tables had wheels which were not lockable, so the table shifts while eating, so a bit harder to avoid a spill with kids. |||Other than that - no complaints. We were impressed with the friendliness and cleanliness of the establishment - kid friendly and certainly worth...
Read moreLightly Refreshed 60's era motel. A smattering of Mad Men era paperbacks , LPs and posters greets you at the door. Walk inside and you have a little choice of a either pool table and a bar or lounge area with a mix up of second hand lounges. Uni student hang out maybe , but venture into your designated room and you may regret the price of admission. Barely warm with the room heater at full , TVs are set with base to 0 to obviously not cause any racket - bathroom appears to be an afterthought with our toilet sitting in what used to be an adjacent wardrobe ?! and the original door sits with its dodgy screw job to keep it closed from outside passers by. Bed is a little soft , pillows are too soft - granted it is sharp as a button and clean as a thistle. It appears someone has spent some time gathering bits from Op shops the world over the furnish this place. The rest of the place is stuck in the 1960's ( just like my grandmas place according to my wife) and sparingly touched with tasteless nude paintings (aren't we in the era of women's Fem push again? Ironic in this hipster joint ?!)
I want to be comfy , warm and welcomed at any hotel the world over - and unfortunately this place lacked.
PS don't bother parking out the back - I was directed to take the skinny lane to the back , only to be frustrated that several other visitors took it up three spots each with their two cars. Perhaps a sign stating "3 spots" or a line...
Read moreLovely place with a vintage touch, super staff and excellent massage but the room was abit disappointing!...
The room was abit old and dingy and the toilet was narrow and uncomfortable to use (i.e. sink had two separate taps for hot and cold separately instead of one which we could adjust for temp!!).
I thought the room was in keeping with the vintage atmosphere of the place, until I walked in to the room that out friends got, which was much more airy, better maintained and big and comfortable with a bigger toilet and workable taps. It made me realise that our room was not vintage it was just very very old.A bit too old and musty for my liking. Better avoid room 18 if you don't want to go way back in time :)
Suuper friendly staff (specially Robin, who took the trouble to preorder a birthday cake, so that I was able to surprise my husband). Super massage session as well..Had a real blast.
Heads up on the breaky...Don't expect the usual eggs and bacon, as the Chalet does not provide meals as such. So breaky is just bread, cereal and fruit...
