Higgins Bakery — Restaurant in Victoria

I’ve Been a Shepparton local for 40 years and Higgins pies have always been mine and my families go to pies for as long as I can remember. A few weeks ago I got 2 plain pies and went to bite into them and the pastry on top was near on a half inch thick and was bugger all meat in it and the pies simply just sucked big time!

I gave them another go yesterday and I mentioned to them my experience prior and asked them before they bagged the pie wether or not the pies had excessively thick lids,,,,,, the girls said yes they do and one of them mentioned how many others had complained about this.

I asked to chat to the baker to inform him or her that they are ruining the pies by adding these stupidly thick lids. The darker girl who was quite arrogant and sounds like she might be French said to me to go somewhere else and find better pies.

Talk about alienating your local customer base! I dare say that the locals around here have noticed how the pies have gone downhill and have mentioned the exact same issue multiple times yet Higgins seems to think that being tight arses with the meat content is gonna keep their loyal local customers coming...

If you want a bakery that provides timely service, has a range of products, and has a unique flavour about their products, then this bakery is not for you. If you want a bakery that has weird tasting pies, a newspaper clipping from 2014 on their bench, and never has the bakery item you desire, then you're in luck. to conclude, this could be the worst bakery in the Goulburn Valley. Yeah, the bread is straight fire, but that's not the reason people go to the bakery anymore. In saying all this, will I go back tomorrow and be inevitably disappointed that they don't have any mini quiches? yes, I will, because it is conveniently located and the items are stuck at 2018 prices. The food used to be amazing but lately has been quite disappointing. The sausage roll was hollow (I've posted a photo), all you could taste was pastry which was chewy and bleh. My focaccia had only half the fillings it usually has and was over-toasted and hurt my gums trying to chew it. The service is usually amazing (depending on who serves you) but on few occasions now, my order has been screwed up and/or I've had to repeat myself multiple times even without other customers in store. Also when I place large orders, I should be offered a box but some ladies still squish it all into a bag or two.

The drinks are also ridiculously priced which I guess is sort of expected in small...
