Here's my honest review after reading other reviews and being utterly disappointed.I ordered a ham and cheese croissant but was let down. I expected a fluffy, crunchy, and fresh croissant, but it was more like the cheap quality you'd find at Woolworths. The cheese wasn't melted, and the Reuben sandwich was shockingly small. The $17 price tag felt like a scam. The quality and portion would have been acceptable for $5, but not at this price. Don't be fooled by the reviews. Two coffees and two sandwiches cost us $43. It's simply not worth it.The good reviews and my experience are vastly different. One star. The price is absolutely ridiculous.

I had been hearing about HOME GROWN ON PIPER in Kyneton for a long time ... they keep posting mouth-watering pics of their dishes and salads on social media. My wife and I went from Castlemaine to the Kyneton Market on Saturday, and loe and behold, I found myself parked right in front! Had to have lunch, of course. My wife had the chickpea fritters and I had the soup du jour ... potato, leek and celeriac with incredible bread from nearly Grist bakery. I have to say while the pictures are good, Home Grown On Piper is much better in person. Do yourself a flavour and try it ...

We stayed at Spring Hill for the weekend and on our way home, we stopped for Mother’s Day Brunch at Home Grown on Piper. It had a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic. I’m a meat lover so I ordered Rosita’s Beef Panrolls which I loved. That said, I also loved the All About Autumn vegan dish that my husband ordered. My daughter loved the Salami Turkish Bread and my son was happy with his kids’ burger. Would drop by here again during our next visit to Kyneton.

Found Home Grown when many other places were not open. Then loved it soo much we returned multiple times. Over a few days we managed breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Amazing range of options especially for dietary needs. Vegan, vegetarian, and Gluten Free are standard on various dishes and optional on many more. Greens Galore (brunch) was delicious with power greens over home made rostis. With the vegetarian option of poached egg, the meal rounded out my brunch. My wife had the specials board quiche and enjoyed it with the home made relish. Visit two, Excited about Eggplant, started slightly bland, but finished with a spicy kick. I could have gone with more spice, but it was delicious and aimed at a general customer. This time my wife had Rostia’s Beef Pan Rolls, which she described as a totally fantastic home made Chico roll. However, comparing them this way does not do justice to Rosita. Hot, crispy, gently spiced goodness was the final description. Visit three we were greeted with the usual huge smiles behind the mandatory masks. Friendly staff on every visit, even when the cafe was busy. Breakfast of coconut pancakes with rhubarb, apple and ginger compote with half a poached pear smothering the pancakes. A generous serving of mascarpone cheese on the side. Fantastic options and generous filling portion. Meanwhile, the other side of the table had the smashed avo add bacon on a generous chunk of toasted rye bread. Now we have found this special cafe it will be on our list of places...

My wife and I experienced an amazingly tasty and we'll presented lunch today at Home Grown on Piper; not to mention the pleasantly friendly staff interaction. I initially ordered the Kottu with Sri Lankan curry, however they had run out. To the credit of Home Grown on Piper as the curry must be awesome, yet to my disappointment I was asked to order something else. I chose Rosita's Beef Panrolls with salad and relish. Well, I was no longer disappointed beacause this dish was absolutely delightful. I accompanied my meal with a extra shot latte, made to perfection. My wife ordered the Chicken Burger with avocado, cheese, alfalfa sprouts amongst other delightful additions. This burger was so good. I know, I had a third of it myself. Oh and the chips on the side had amazing crunch on the exterior with a delicate fluffiness on the inside. So tasty. My wife also had a green smoothie. This smoothie cleansed the pallet beautifully. I also got a takeaway of roasted vegetable salad with quinoa. That's for dinner, so I haven't tasted it yet, but I'm sure it's delish! Thank you for a wonderful lunch (and dinner) Home Grown on Piper....

This is my one-off experience of this cafe, having knowledge of the area and also having seen the way other reviewers were treated in responses from the staff.

I visited in the morning in a group of three at a quiet time. Our order was taken relatively quickly, but we were surprised to be asked to pay at the table when our order was taken. This did not happen to others as far as we saw.

This was followed by a roughly 45 minute wait time, with mistakes to the orders, both food and drink were not hot, and there was no apology when mistakes were subsequently made.

While good ingredients were clearly used, prices were not fair both compared to other cafes in the area, and for the food and drinks we received.

Finally, I was overcharged significantly on top of a $10 weekend fee, with again no apology or sign of caring.

I had looked forward to trying this cafe with a sweet idea at heart but I unfortunately cannot recommend...
