Our group trip chosen this cocktail bar as our main choice for our post-lunch drinks. One of our group members booked the venue way in advance and having seen their drink lists, the group favorably agreed to go there.
Our designated reserved table was on the far end of the balcony, we walked passed the well-decorated and well-stocked interior items that are for sale.
That far end table doesn't have sufficient heating features for winter, one of the staff came to get our orders. This place has the potential to be the landmark of Kyenton, a must-visit place but it lacks the key factor: the what's+her-name woman who seemed to be in charge, or the owner, needs to take the fundamental hospitality & customer service training.
For your own sake, for any future group booking you need to help her learn the acceptable way of informing the patrons (groups) some simple information i.eet one of the staff to get your order, not place an order straight to the bar. She has incredibly rude way of telling off some of our group members not to browse around their displayed items for sale inside. It comes down to how you communicate.
Her harsh, cold, rude way of talking to some of us are simply unacceptable.
They could have simply put this information on the booking confirmation so that we can simply give it a miss.
Thankfully after our first drinks, we went to Kyneton hotel. Not only delicious early dinner, they also had great atmosphere, good drinks (mulled wine was so good!) And the owner introduced himself to us and made us...
Read moreIâm really disappointed with my experience at Botanik, having just moved into the area this place had the potential to have a lot of business from us but we had a much warmer welcome from the other bars around. Tried for a table Saturday evening and were shut down immediately, told there would not be any chance. However, told by a friend bookings arenât necessary we soon had the feeling it may have been us, (4 ladies mid 20âs-50âs, hardly wild) so for experimental reasons gave them a ring shortly after and without realising it was us they told us to start walking down and they would have a table for us shortly⊠The owners face dropped when we walked back in âI told you we had no spaceâ and âwe havenât picked up any phone tonight you didnât ringâ. Much to her dismay, proving I actually did speak to them with my phone logs she gave us a table outside. A table we would have been happy with from the start. We were prepared to spend money, and with a huge cocktail menu they really had the chance to make it up to us. We asked the older guy for recommendations to be told with no passion âa negroniâ - seriously, with a menu that size thatâs all you can sell us? I give two stars because the young waitress was so lovely, and the drinks were ok. Definitely not worth the...
Read moreI've wanted to come here since I first saw a pic of that gorgeous balcony. A warm Easter long weekend provided the perfect opportunity. After wandering through the rooms downstairs admiring the treasure trove of wares, I headed upstairs to the bar. I was greeted by a friendly staff member and was offered a table larger than I needed. When a smaller table became available I asked if they'd like me to move - being aware of the value of bums on seats. No, you're fine, was the response. I felt quite welcome as a solo walk in. The cocktail list is mind boggling: in a good way. I thought I knew cocktails. I was madly googling ingredients out of curiosity. The two cocktails I ordered were delish. A ham hock terrine with pickled plums, provided a light accompaniment. On the way out I stopped to admire the collection of beautiful cocktail glasses. It is vast. I...
