HV Restaurant in Traralgon, run by a warm and welcoming Tamil family from South India, has carved out a unique niche in the local dining scene. While the culinary finesse may not rival high-end Indian establishments, the food is undeniably satisfying—flavorful, homely, and generously portioned. Dishes like chicken biryani, naan’s, and butter chicken offer a comforting taste of South Indian and broader Indian cuisine, though seasoned diners might notice a lack of depth or refinement in some preparations. What truly sets HV apart is its popularity. Locals, especially Aussie patrons, flock to the restaurant not just for the food, but for the friendly atmosphere and consistent service. It’s become a bit of a community hub, with nearby restaurant owners even dropping by—perhaps drawn by the authenticity and heart behind the cooking. The menu is reasonably priced, making it an accessible option for families and casual diners alike. HV Restaurant may not be a culinary powerhouse, but it thrives on charm, cultural warmth, and a genuine connection with its customers. For those seeking a taste of Tamil hospitality and hearty Indian fare in Traralgon, it’s a spot worth visiting. Just don’t expect Michelin-star precision—expect comfort, smiles, and spice.

Never go there better eating Macdonald or subway as staff is so rude We ordered a food and it tasted like either they have used outdated paneer or may be other outdated ingredient so i called the owner who was there and passed my feedback it really tasted like that as i have been eating paneer since i was child and then owner wife came and started to being rude with us she is so unrespectful, rude and arrogant woman sho told me abt policies etc and none of their staff was wearing gloves.they running a indian restaurant and dont know how to talk to indian customer.the curry they made was like watery gravy i dont think this was made by experienced chef or qualified chef.i have taken a sample and i might send it to Lab for investigation.

I had not been to HV in years, I finally took my partner and it was just as delicious as I remember! The butter chicken, chicken korma, and rice was all delicious. We even ordered ice-cream and I couldn't believe how amazing it was. Cannot gush enough. My partner hadn't had Indian food in so long, but he loved it too!

Ordered the mixed vegetables in mid August and received a container that was 2/3s full with a lot of oil. The vegetables were mostly frozen, with a piece of broccoli, cauliflower, potato and two chunks of capsicum. One of the worst Indian dishes I’ve ever had and even though it wasn’t great, I still would have liked a full container as I was very hungry that night. Maybe the other dishes are good but the mixed vegetables I received was terrible and was far from restaurant quality food. It seems they’re normally good, considering the overall rating of the restaurant but I would never order from there again after...
