I’m not sure where all of the 4-5 star reviews came from for this restaurant!? I had family visiting and we decided on a night out for dinner. We picked this restaurant because of all the great reviews and were sadly disappointed. :(
the "waiter" was dressed like a delivery driver from a 1980's Pizza Hut ad. Jeans, oversize t-shirt, runners and a dirty baseball cap. Turns out, he wasn't really the waiter, he was the delivery driver. the waiter did seem like a really nice and down to earth guy, when he honestly told us that he didn't know what an ice cream sundae was. he served the rice dishes to the wrong end of the table and said "I know, they ordered it" when he pointed to my family at the other end of the table. He made no attempt to move it. the main courses were served BEFORE the entrees (which came out about 2 minutes after the mains). nothing left the table once it was put there... empty soft drink cans, bottles, plates, bowls etc... remained. one of our kids accidentally knocked over a drink and the waiter just handed us a couple of napkins as he walked past. the food was okay but half of it had FAR too much salt or MSG in it. the toilets were really dirty. Looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. the passage out to the back (kitchen, storeroom, toilets etc.) was really dirty as well. Unfortunately, I didn't see that until after we had eaten. also, the passage out to the back felt slippery... not wet, but slippery. Likely even dangerous. I asked the waiter if they split bills. He said "I don't know, what you ordered was really a lot of things" and then went to walk away. I called him back and asked him to print the bill.. and then we worked it out ourselves. one of us asked him how long he'd worked there. He said a year and added "I don't usually do this, I'm usually the delivery driver".
I wonder, did the regular waiter have the night off and the owner tell the poor delivery driver to do everything?
The bill was over $300, which was cool and no surprise, because like the nice delivery driver told me, what we "ordered was really a lot of things".

Read moreThe bad: Just another Asian restaurant in Traralgon cooking for westerners, I cook more authentic food at home. The beef Penang curry hardly had any heat, the Thai chicken and cashews had no heat even though being told it was mild, both meals had almost exactly the same vegies in them all that differed was the sauce/ flavouring on top and the protein. The chicken dumplings were ok but plain and light on depth of flavour and not enough sauce. The curry puffs were ok too but once again I've had way way better and the won loys curry puffs are better. If you eat in youl find out the toilets are terrible, sticky floors, ciggy burn on the toilet roll holder in the gents, cobwebs, filthy toilet bowl, bad, bad, bad. Oh and a bar in the pics on the website but unable to serve alcohol. Not sure what's going on there. Very disappointing overall.
The good: service from...
Read moreMy sister mother and I went in for lunch today with my sisters two children, I would like to say it's a beautiful restaurant with some of the best staff I have met in ages and the food is exquisite. It was 1 pm, and the boys were tired and couldn't stay awake any longer, and as two-year-olds do when they are tired he started to cry which upset his four-month-old brother, so we had two crying children and the man serving us was just excellent he gave Harvey some prawn crackers to try and settle him which worked for a minute or two then The total Meltdown started. The man serving us got our meals into takeaway contains with no trouble at all, and we could enjoy the food at home. If I could give them more stars, I would. Thank you so much Wok’s N dumpling Traralgon for your...
