I was thoroughly impressed with the excellent service and professionalism offered by the friendly staff at The Chimney Wodonga. My wife (originally from India) and I took our son with another family and we enjoyed a tasty entre of 'Chicken 65' tender chicken drumsticks cooked in tandoori garnish. It tasted just like food in an Indian family home. For mains we loved the creamy daal makhani and an amazing eggplant curry that was the perfect level of spice. This was served with the best naanbreads in Albury and wodonga. We have tried every Indian restaurant in the area (all 7) and The Chimney is the best!!
The staff were happy to cater three levels of spice for us: mild, medium and hot. Medium was perfect for us.
Dessert was mango kulfi (ice-cream) which was just like Indian. We were very full as serving sizes are generous.
The food is reasonably priced and the owner personally met us and asked how the food was. Very professional and impressive for people who have moved from Sydney. Some restaurants are very hit or miss on the border but not this one! You must try The Chimney and be transported to the hospitality and delicacies of the amazing...
Read moreWe bought $104 worth of takeaway food from The Chimney Wodonga last evening and where extremely disappointed. We found the food to be sub standard in quality. For example: Bombay Beef Curry contained two small pieces of grisley meat and ten fragments of bone that, because of the small diameter of the bones could not have come from a cow. Lamb Madras and Chicken Madras, although reasonably tender, were both served in a watery slop which tasted identical. Prawn Madras which tasted no better had tough chewie prawns that had obviously come from the freezer prior to reheating and was also servred in the same slop. Lemon and Coconut Rice was passable as was the Chicken Tika Entree for which I give one star. In future I will never buy anything from The Chimney...
Read moreI have to say this is the best Indian restaurant in the region of Albury Wodonga. Tried four of their dishes, Tikka Massala is spiced to your liking, very spot on flavoue. Butter Chicken tastes a bit different that what I'm used to but really liked it, Vindaloo is not a bad choice either, and Dhaba chicken flavours are so good. Their naans are on par with the rest, and they're very generous with their very sizable serving of Onion Bhajis. Exceptionally fast service of under 10 minutes, you don't see that often with Indian food. A great authentic atmosphere Inside, an indian restaurant that feels as if like you're in Mumbai. Priced a bit under the average which is good. Very highly...
