Platinum Brew Cafe — Restaurant in Wodonga

I used to really rate this place but my last two experiences have been pretty ordinary. A couple of months back I had eggs Benedict. It’s normally amazing. But this time I ended up as sick as a dog. I was there around 1 pm and by 5 to 6 pm I was holed up in the bathroom throwing up big time. This was my first and only meal that day. Nothing since 7 pm the previous evening and nothing after the eggs. Contacted them. They got back to me and basically said too bad. They asked in the kitchen and didn’t find any issues. That was it.

Went again the other day with a friend. I was after the lettuce cups but they were out. My friend wanted a sandwich but they were out of fresh bread so it had to be on toast. I ordered the bruschetta expected chopped tomatoes etc. it cost $15.00. It consisted of a single small slice of toast lathered in beetroot mush. A small handful of spinach leaves and a couple of crumbs of feta cheese. I’ve never had bruschetta served before with less than two slices of bread! There was also a bit of onion. Not a tomato in sight. The beetroot mush was ghastly. I went to scrape it off the toast but it had soaked in. All I could eat were the spinach leaves and feta crumbs. A. Awful Meal and miserly serving size. Not impressed.

Took my two kids in for a milkshake. They showed us to a table and got a high chair for my son which I was grateful for. Never mentioned that there was no table service, so after 20 minutes of waiting I asked how to order… they said there was no table service, which is fine, but very difficult when you’re in a different room to the till and have two kids on your own, who are settled at the table, one strapped into a high chair. They did end up offering to take our order at the table which I was grateful for. But then they took a further 30 minutes to bring our drinks out, and by the time they brought out my coffee it was in a takeaway cup… which just felt like a huge “get out, we need the table.” So rude, and not the nice morning out experience with the kids I was looking for at all. And after all that, the coffee was average at best. Milkshakes were great, but the kids were so over it by the time they came out that they didn’t even finish them. Waste of...

If you're looking for a cafe with ample parking head here. Don't expect acknowledgement from staff as you enter - we had a team member walk straight past us without even eye contact! This has been the MO since the cafe opened. The menu hasn't changed too much over the years and offers simple, tasty items such as bacon & egg roll, burgers, coffees, with etc. All reasonably priced. Collect your own menu as you enter and order at the counter. Meals are served to your table. With improved customer service this place could well...
