What a real disappointment this was. The chef was very aggressive and the woman taking the orders was dour and unwelcoming. I enquired simply as to why there was not a scrambled egg option on the menu ( seemed odd for a cafe doing all day breakfast!) the chef berated me from the kitchen insisting it was his menu and no changes- wow! Ok- I order from the menu- food was ok- nothing special - I then witnessed a table of 4 get up and leave because of the staff rudeness and lack of hospitality- I suggest that the Chef really needs to rethink his chosen profession if his customers seemed to make him so angry! This is a small coastal town- it’s winter mid week in off season- part of the reason I decided to go there and show my grandsons- I enjoy spending a few dollars in these communities to support local tourism- if a chef has enough time to argue with his customers then he isn’t focused on his prime consideration- the service and the food. There was a young woman also working there who was delightful and powerless- this review is in no way aimed at her! Give this place a very wide berth until they work out it’s a service industry. Meanwhile everything else locally was an absolute delight! Full marks to the Maritime Museum and the amazing and engaged team at the visitors centre! My boys sooo...

Never been more disgusted in my life, our family was visiting the area, my pregnant wife and I sat down at the table out the front to join the rest of the family ( who purchased from the cafe ) so we could feed our baby, it was raining and there were no other customers waiting so we used one of the two vacant tables with full intention of moving should a customer need it. We were aggressively approached by a rude woman claiming to be the owner telling us to leave to which we apologised and offered to buy from the store. We were declined service and told to leave. We didn’t want to cause a scene so we had to seperate from our family and sit down the street. Honestly I have never been more appalled with the level of disrespect. 0/10 Foul.

Thankyou for your response, you have successfully demonstrated your awful nature to reinforce my...

We dined in for the 1st time. We are local residents. We had 2 local chefs with us, table of 4. One of the chefs can’t eat hollandaise sauce due to allergy reasons. He asked to hold the sauce on his meal Salmon Eggs. The chef of this Cafe had an outright rage we could hear from our table saying there are no alterations though on their menu it states let us know if you have any allergies, which we did when ordering, confirming 4 times to hold the hollandaise. He threw the returned meal in the bin when it was sent back as he put hollandaise on the Salmon eggs (we heard it land in the bin!). He then proceeded to stare at us with a death stare. If we hadn't of paid, we would have walked out. It was such an awkward and uncomfortable experience and such a shame for a local Cafe in the middle of winter! The Cafe was almost empty. Won't...

What a disappointing experience. I wish I had read the reviews before I visited. My wife requested the mushrooms included in the big breakfast be served as a side. Apparently this is an alteration in the alleged chef's mind and the mushrooms were never delivered. I asked twice for them explaining to the waitress that the mushrooms were part of the meal we had paid for. I am still waiting. Also the table we sat at was so wobbly we had to put our drinks on the vacant chair whilst we ate the meal, stil minus the mushrooms. We were completely ignored after my second request for the mushrooms. It is only breakfast. Many cafes in Queenscliff do as good a meal without the ATTITUDE! Unfortunately this seems to be a recurring complaint and I am surprised this cafe is still in business.

Ocean Cafe in Queenscliff offers a delightful culinary experience with its delicious food. While the flavors are impressive, it's worth noting that the prices lean towards the steeper side. A slight drawback is the limited flexibility in customizing orders – there's no option to change menu items or order sides separately. The staff at Ocean Cafe, however, might strike some as a bit odd. Despite this, the overall dining experience is anchored by the tasty cuisine, making it a worthwhile stop for those who prioritize flavor over customization and don't mind the higher price point.

Food - I ordered bacon & eggs and when the food was served, they forgot the bacon. The taste wasnt too bad. They are very strict on whatever is in the menu, no modifications whatsoever is allowed. Coffee was great. Food prices were a but above average/pricey. Service - the guy working there is very accommodating and nice. Atmosphere - cafe is really nice with a garden area in the back and front outdoor seating which is lovely.
