Was at Halls Gap for some hiking the last couple of days. Was also there for some hiking November last year. Similar to last year, we went to The Town Fryer to get some dinner. Wanted their Sweet Potato Burger but learned that a new team has taken over the business since July/August 2023 and they now have a different menu and the Sweet Potato Burger is no longer available. Asked if he has any vegan burger, he went to the kitchen and came back explaining how he would make one. We order the vegan burger, salad, barramundi, flake and chips. 👍🏻 The vegan burger is very good and I would also say their service has improved as well.

An absolutely delightful meal while visiting Halls Gap. The flathead fish was fresh, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The chips came in a generous serving size for the medium, and the entire meal was more than enough for two people. Prices were very reasonable, especially compared to the other options in the area. Such a great deal for amazing food. Lovely ambience and such friendly staff, they made our dinner on a cold and rainy night such a hearty one. Not to mention the lively music playing from the Sonos Ones in this shop and the neighbouring gelato shop. Thanks for having us!

Locate at a stunning place, surprised to find this fish chip bar. But A bit regret with this place, Food was overcooked, Calamari rings were very overcooked, taste like rubber and so well the nuggets , meanwhile the potato cake was cooked well and the chips were delicious . Young couple worked there could give a basic customer service and that is all, could feel they are so hesitate to help any customer even a smile face to welcome everyone.

Pizza and chips are great but have 2nd thoughts about anything else. Peak period while we were there last week so no suprise when we were told 20-25 minute wait. We were called after 20 and handed our pizza only. I asked for the rest of the order at which point he went to the kitchen. He came back saying another 25-30 for a chicken roll and chicken burger. No apologies, no free drink, nothing. Called again after 25. My chicken roll tasted manky and I couldn't eat it. My daughter said the chicken burger was very average. I wasn't going up to complain to wait another 45 minutes for basic take away. Can't hear a thing with the industrial portable evap but at least...

The Town Fryer serves the best fish and chips and pizza in Halls Gap! We had flake and chips, which were perfectly cooked, and a half-and-half pizza that was crispy, full of balanced flavors, and absolutely delicious. Everything had the perfect taste and crunch.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick and efficient, even during busy times. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality, making it great value for money. They also cater to all spice levels, so whether you like it mild or extra spicy, there’s something for everyone.

Food was average. We got class fish and chips in the dinner and went for brekky the next day and ordered veg platter. Presentation was nothing like other brekky places. Grilled haloumi was a part of the dish, but we were not given that, and only on asking them if they missed to put in, we were told they were out of halloumi and hence did not have it in the plate, but then they offered us an extra hashbrown for it's replacement. Just to the management that above is not a complaint, but it is expected from you to inform customers beforehand if you are out of one of the main ingredients of the dish and would you still like to order with any...
