We had the BBQ Sharing Platter. Thought of trying all they had to offer since we came all the way from the CBD. It’s not overly huge, but it came with decent meats; the brisket and ribs were like the cheaper cuts so don’t expect them to be good quality. Here’s a review of each of them:
Chicken wings were moist and had a smoky flavor. Probably the most moist meat in the platter.
The potato salad and garlic bread were great sides.
The sausages had a spicy flavor and they weren’t bad.
Chicken breasts were quite dry for us, lucky there was some bbq sauce that go with the platter. But wouldn’t hurt to have some thigh (with or without the bone) instead.
The ribs are more like riblets to us, like the ones we had in America (which they called riblets). Don’t expect a large rack of ribs. They were fine, just on the dry side too.
The beef brisket as they said were the burnt ends. IT IS NOT GOOD. Tough and dry. We asked the server beforehand if it was going to be moist or not, but we didn’t get enough info about it and just ordered anyway. It was quite a disappointment but they already mentioned it’s the burnt ends anyway, so it isn’t their fault for giving us dry briskets.
On the other hand though, we had tables around us being asked about their meal (multiple times per table), but our table was skipped somehow. We don’t usually expect to be asked anyway, but not sure what’s up with that today. I don’t know how to not make us sound like ungrateful Karens, but it’s just bizarre we weren’t treated the same as the tables around us.
In any case, glad we booked (please do so during peak hours), otherwise we might not have a table today. Would probably give this place another try if we come back, but we will never order the...
Read moreWE went to this restaurant 2 nights ago for a 7pm booking (so not late in the evening) based on the 'good' reviews. The night was an absolute shambles...We ordered a bottle of wine, and there were only 2 glasses left. We heard other people have the same issue with different wines. We ordered the ribs (we went there especially for the ribs). We were told 10-15min after we ordered that they had run out of ribs. We asked for the sirloin instead and were informed that there was no steak of any kind available??? We both ended up having the crispy pork belly. The best thing about that meal was the crackling. The description of the meal is as follows: crispy pork belly served with dutch carrots, sauteed greens, and a cauliflower puree and a red wine jus. That was not at all what we got!!! A small piece of dry pork belly on half a dinner plate full of thick mashed potatoes. There were carrots, but they were mostly black, there were no greens, no cauliflower puree, and don't even get me started on the red wine jus!!! There was a bowl the size of a individual pot pie ramekin full to the brim of what could only be described as a jelly like substance that may once of been some gravox gravy made up and left in the fridge. The potato, carrots and the disgusting gravy was also cold. After complaining, we only ended up paying the $36 for one meal. I left the majority of mine. It was too late to find another eating place, so I ended up with a vegemite sandwich back at our accommodation. The only saving grace for this miserable excuse for a good restaurant was the lovely blonde waitress who tried so hard to please under extremely difficult...
Read moreDon't order the steak!!! .... we've never never eaten such a badly cooked steak at restaurant in our entire lives. We ordered 3 eye fillet steaks and asked for one of them to be well-done and two medium cooked. They told us they cannot do well-done for one the one we requested, so we said we're okay with all 3 to be cooked medium then. All 3 of them came back well-done! We told the waiter about this issue and he quickly went into the kitchen and asked for 2 rib eye steaks to be re-cooked to medium, like we initially ordered. No joke, 4 minutes later, the waiter brings us 2 steaks. I don't understand how you can cook 2 rib eye steaks in 4 minutes, mind-blowing. As soon as we cut into these steaks we realised that they obviously have been reheated or cooked in the microwave as they were stone hard and very well cooked, well beyond well-done and they had no seasoning on them either...not even salt and pepper. We didn't want to make a fuss about this any further as we were dining with some family friends. My husband and son obviously didn't eat their dinner and left hungry and upon paying I voiced my concern with the waitress behind the counter. I asked if I could be explained how they cook their steaks as even I, a non qualified chef, can make a better steak at home. She said she'll go and look for the owner and 2 minutes later came back and just apologised for the badly cooked steaks. I mean, after charging $76 for inedible steaks, I was expecting a little bit more than an apology, but we've learnt our lesson and will not be eating at this...
