I recently visited this restaurant on my way from Shellharbour to Narrandera, hoping to enjoy a classic Italian meal, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The pizza and pasta were honestly even worse than supermarket frozen options. The pizza crust was flavorless and toppings lacked freshness. As for the pasta, it was with no depth or richness that you'd expect from an authentic Italian dish. The entire meal felt like it had been hastily thrown low quality food together with little care or attention to detail. Staff seemed not happy and at the time to pay, there was no “thank you” or any attempt to make the experience feel pleasant. I would not recommend this place for anyone seeking a quality Italian dining experience.

We two were looking forward to eating at a La Porchetta after a long absence from any of these outlets. So we took a 200km detour to Wagga Wagga to get some business sorted and, oh by the way, have a celebratory lunch. We were not disappointed. The lovely young lady suggested we might share an entree and so glad we did. Had the Garlic Brushetta which was divine. We both like tortellini so had one each of the Mushroom and also the Fungi version with chicken. The manager took time out to have a chat and ensure we were happy. We were very satisfied and pleased we made the detour. Value for money was a bonus.

Not the greatest pizzas, but tasty and filling. The cheese and garlic pizza barely had any garlic taste (despite requesting extra). This was likely due to the use of jar garlic, rather than fresh (at least that's what I suspect) The staff were really helpful and friendly. All in all, a nice enough experience for an evening. Also noticed a few tables with kids and the place seems to be very good for families to eat and enjoy. Not bad to a family feed, but could easily be improved with some attention to food quality that loads up more flavour.

Dinner - La Porchetta

We find ourselves on an unplanned stopover in town tonight. We are in a motel room with one chair so dinner at a restaurant, sit down is required, personally we prefer to choose licensed premises.

I have dietary requirements - a strict gluten free coeliac - so a quick google on my personal pages and a few options come up. La Porchetta, Italian fare, comes to light. I FB message the restaurant and they promptly reply to my options, for once not just roast of the day (with no gravy) or the market fish. They also personally text me their current menu, highlighting my many options.

Being off season, mid week we take the risk and do not book but walk the 500m from our accommodation. The staff friendly, welcoming and extremely accomodating.

My beloved is strictly a pizza man but after looking at the menu online was tossing between Nona’s Lasagne, complete with salad or cannelloni, possibly even one of the many pasta dishes. Me, drooling over the many dishes, choose your sauce and the pasta - they have gluten free pasta as well as gf pizza bases too.

I ended up selecting the risotto, there were three to choose from, including a vegan choice but the prawn, zucchini & pesto was absolutely delicious and the rice, soft and delicate like a risotto should be.

Mr Cannelloni/Lasagne went weak at knees and fell for a, you guessed it… pizza. In his defence there were more than twenty options with add your own extras no issue. He chose the ‘hot&Spicey’ with added egg and olives. Delicious. He got what he ordered - hot&Spicey. His only error here was he ordered the 9” not the 11’ or 13”. He ordered a second. Still half a pizza left for midnight snacks or even breakfast tomorrow.

The Gentleman on the table next to us ordered the Chicken Parmi. It took him a while but he was not going to let it defeat him. He savoured every mouthful.

There was even room for desert with a very large selection on offer. I forgo the GF chocolate mouse or pancetta but he chose the sticky date with vanilla ice cream, homemade but just as delicious as the main course.

Will definitely be back next time we are in town - thank you for a great meal, at very...

We had a booking for 6 people on Friday evening the 7th of July. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and we were served rather promptly. Unfortunately there was a problem with our order. I asked for '6 individual pieces' of arancini and asked if I could have them as pieces instead of serves. The waitress (young lady) said that was okay and that she can do them as pieces. At the end whilst reading back the order, she once again confirmed '6 pieces of arancini’. When the food arrived, we had 6 serves (4 pieces per serve) of arancini, a total of 24 pieces. I quickly told the waitress' that this is a mistake, I apologised if I had confused her, and asked if they could please take back some of the arancini as this was too much for our small group. She then responded "just put it in a takeaway". We queried this further whilst paying the bill, and noticed the total cost for the arancini alone exceeded $100 and the waitress showed no sympathy nor apologies when we mentioned the issue to her once again and refused to escalate the issue to another worker or management for discussion. We understand that perhaps she got confused by the order dye to communication barriers, in spite of confirming it with us, however we done our best as customers to remedy the problem immediately by returning the arancini only to be told it's our fault with no apologises. Extremely disappointing behaviour from the waitress towards the situation, although not entirely he mistake due to the communicationbarrier, although her attitude towards the issue was rude and unnecessary and that's what has resulted in disappointment. On a positive note, the gnochhi, pasta and pizza were both delicious, with attentive and kind service from the...

Very disappointed in our experience at la porchetta Wagga. Staff were under pressure as restaurant was very busy but this does not excuse the poor service we received. Restaurant is over crowded trying to fit too many tables in a small space. Ordered our drinks which took over 30 minutes to arrive (1 beer + 1 wine) wine that was originally ordered unavailable this is understandable but only informed after questioning where our beverages were. Meals ordered, but before completing staff member left to seat another table then returned to Finnish order. Waited for our meals but before receiving asked if we were ready to order dessert, clearly not realizing we hadn’t been given our mains yet. Meals were poorly prepared/cooked, 2 servings of garlic bread ordered 1 arrived still cold/frozen in center. Spaghetti bolognese dry, penne pescatore seafood arrived cold, penne pollo el fungi & pollo e avocado pasta was clearly plated and sauce poured on top with only 50% of pasta having any sauce on it. Will state though that when staff alerted to the cold food was fixed immediately. Best part of whole experience I’ve cold coke/refreshing beer....
